A Political Thread pt. 2

Yeesh. This sounds credible. The theory of Russian verbal diahhorea around Ukrainian nukes, dirty bombs and chemical weapons being used as a pretext to deploy such weapons themselves (probably to pin it on Ukraine and generate domestic support as they have such dominance they have no need to deploy these offensively).

And in an update on South Korea, the Conservative who was so crap they replaced him on campaign material with a deepfake AI version of him with more charismatic scripted words and actions has defeated a late surge from the Liberal party guy who offered subsidised male pattern baldness treatment as a central populist policy.

Sorry to bang on about this but Turkey (in NATO and essentially neighbouring Russia) has reportedly had the backbone to recently supply more TB2 drones to Ukraine. These can carry out pretty much all the functions of a jet, albeit on a less powerful scale. Turkey has neither been bombed nor threatened by Russia in response.

So the US thinks unmanned jets supplied by NATO allies are fine and won't "provoke Russia" but NATO allies supplying MiGs is "not tenable"?

Well then, what about the vast assortment of US made drones then? Can they take the time to spare a few of those inbetween spouting their empty words?

Decent summary of the effectiveness of drones is found below.

Lavrov repeats claims that US has been developing biological weapons

Returning to the Russian foreign minister's press conference and Sergei Lavrov goes on to say that "no one listened to us" about Russia's security concerns.
He claims that "new facts" have been uncovered in the "liberated territories" - that is the two Russian-held regions in eastern Ukraine - that attacks had been prepared against these areas for months.
He says the Pentagon is using Ukrainian territory to develop pathogens that could be used to create biological weapons - a claim the US has called "preposterous".
Lavrov says it is "no surprise" that the White House has denied this and that the EU and UN have said there is no evidence of this happening, because the Americans did it in "deep secrecy"."

It would be laughable if they weren't currently invading a country and now essentially hinting at the fact they are going to use chemical weapons but claim they belonged to the USA... Honestly, they really do like spewing absolute bullshit and I'm amazed at anyone who swallows it. Even those in Russia must see they can't get their story straight about why they are in Ukraine, yet apparently Putin's popularity has risen during all of this.

Looks at leaps and twisted logic people try use to justify partygate and Brexit.

Its not that people belive the bullshit per se, they just want to be on the winners side.

Abramovich one of 7 Oligarchs sanctioned by UK. Meaning his UK assets are frozen. Chelsea sale obviously affected.

Found a section of this article ridiculous. Apparently Ukrainians with a passport or ID card and who are joining an existing family member can apply online and fingerprint in the UK saving time.

BBC Home editor says the change is "significant". I would suggest instead, "bare minimum". Yes it is an improvement, but in the context of Ukraine it's pathetic it's taken this long and does not go further.

More on the visa issue for Ukrainian refugees.

What annoys me the most is how they keep interchanging refugee and immigrant/immigration.

Johnson, "Some sort of control is an important feature of the way we do things. Uncontrolled immigration is not the way forward".

This isn't about immigration, these people are not coming here to work, they are fleeing a ******* warzone.

You're assuming that Johnson's base can tell the difference.
Though I wouldn't be surprised if Johnson himself can't tell the difference.

Why wouldn't it be Russians in Putins inner circle?

Also, the republicans are gonna cruise the next election if the Democrats put Harris up

Ah yes, that's the issue here.

If only there was a black guy and a woman, the crazy man might be slightly less crazy
Welll no, I wasn't saying that. Of course this is all on Putin. But still couldn't make it up with the total lack of diversity in terms of his advisors and yes reflected mostly in the make up of his inner circle.

Why would that surprise you in any way? Even before any of this happened, Putin and Russia were hardly the standard bearers for progressive thinking.

It's also a misnomer that Putin is crazy IMO - warped reasoning, but Cold and calculating. He's spotted and planned this invasion for years. He's surrounded himself with yes men and a woman. But what I was getting at was Does this just reflect Russia's total lack of diversity in their society?
