[2025 Six Nations] Ireland vs England - 01/02/25

Yet again it's only been one game and I just want the 6N to finish already. Just fast-forward to Ireland/France in Dublin to see who wins it. The Scots might try and convince themselves they have a chance of winning it - but they've got two hopes - no hope and Bob hope. After Wales get beat in Rome next week that's the wooden spoon sorted out as well. Genuinely after week 2, the only 3 games I have a vague interest in are Ire/Fra for obvious reasons, Eng/Sco, to see if we can win the Calcutta - not confident, and Eng-Ita, to see if Italy can create history - they've got a decent shot at doing so.

But if we have to have every call go our way to win a game, then our game plan is **** poor.

Our defence was good for 40 minutes but we bled penalties from poor discipline.

Our attack was relying on moments of brilliance from smith.

our line out was poor due to the single lifter, 3 tacklers and only one carrier. Would have been better to start of with one curry on the bench.

Borthwick now has a less than 50% win rate, for a team with so much potential (not even sure at this point about that) that's not good enough.

I expect at best a 4th position to this tournament at worst 5th.

We are pretty shite

i probably sound like a right negative f****r but honestly I'm just fed up of England making the same mistakes year in year out and not learning the lessons. Yes Ben O'Keeffe was very poor but us being horrendously ill-disciplined has been a trait for many years, why do we never seem to be able to adapt to a referee during a game?.

Literally the second half of the last 6/7 games against elite opposition have been carbon copies of each other, every game is the same. We're in it or leading at HT > Revert to a negative kicking game that gets nowhere > start giving away silly penalties > defend for a bit then the other team scores > can't regain momentum and concede 2/3 tries > last 5/10 minutes finish well when we're behind and have to go for it, but ultimately still lose. Worst still is that people still fall for the "positives to take into next week" rubbish. Doesn't matter who the opponent is or who we pick, the cycle is still the same.

Honestly, I think I'm done with this place. All people seem to want to do is focus on the negative.

I think we put in a pretty decent performance overall. Losing to a good team doesn't make you 'shite'.

This is grossly unfair IMO. I'm usually crucial Al of both, but Slade and Lawrence were pretty good today.

I don't know, would I take them over Ireland, Scotland's, France or Italy. I honestly don't know.

Would they seriously swap there 12/13 options for Slade or Lawrence.

Last 8 games against supposedly similarly ranked tier 1 nations have al resulted in loses.

We go into every match with the expectation to lose, we deem losing by 5 points a good result…

The opposition teams actually feel sorry for us. When saffas, kiwis and Aussies are trying to give English fans pep talks you know you're a bit rubbish that they don't see you as a threat.

we are currently at the lowest point in the world rankings we've ever been at.

We've already seen Murley (who had a mixed debut) get slaughtered on here, by people who should know better, when he may well develop into an excellent international wing. What chance would Hartley, Ojomoh, Atkinson, Anyanwu stand?

There aren't many weho come into international rugby and are instant megastars.

The amount of "talent" and resources we have and we can't pull a centre partnership that actually makes blood sense.
