[2025 Six Nations] England vs Scotland - 22/02/25

Different looking Scotland with ball, time and space, the wide passes are beautiful to see. The forwards are getting much better go forward compared to v Ireland. Should really have another score or two IMO.
Scotland very good until the 22 when it all goes to pieces for one reason or another. England clear or even get possession outside of the danger zone but give away a penalty or turn over ball and Scotland push back well down field... Until the 22 where they never look like scoring. Rinse, repeat.

I really question if some of our players have genuine decision making skills

Look at the first try, 3 players running to the man with the ball and leaving a player free to score.

Lawrence there with a 0.5% offload that close to the try line.

Kicking the ball away in promising positions

I'm amazed people are having a go at MSmith for that. Threre was no-one better placed, he took it to 5m out and set it up beautifully.

Should have scored. Would have scored if Lawrence had been patient.
Just seen the replay again. There was no pass to make. He did absolutely the right thing.

There was a pass on, didn't have to go back left again
I didn't see that in real time I have to say so asking him to in the moment is perhaps a bit much, he didn't fling it out over excitedly, think maybe you should cut him a little slack were it not for that England could well have recycled and scored, no one would be moaning about Smith then.

Another issue is we're losing the breakdown battle. We aren't stopping Scotland getting quick ball.
It's the worst of both worlds though, the England defense is terrified to put any speed on the blitz but still willing to stay reasonably tight and leave way to much space out wide.

Don't see these sort of numbers often. England left, Scotland right
