[2024 Six Nations] Italy vs England - 03/02/24

I've realised my issue with England's kick to compete tactic. If they don't win it back then they need a good defence because they will just give the ball back to the opposition, often around the half way line. Problem is England's defence isn't good enough to keep letting the opposition run at you.

Attack improvement

Defense no different to the last handful of years

Selection always felt abit odd, underhill is good over the ball, roots thats not his main game. Would of thought with kick chase you would probably want some form of earl, curry, pearson and dombrandt. Big fan of freeman taking good lines, he is a very good winger, but he has the skillset england have been begging for in a centre for a long time wonder if we see him get some minutes there this champ as digwall and slade doesnt feel like a complementary partnership.

When they attack its to easy for them to score, not saying their attack is bad at all but gettong on our outside to easy.

Although Ford Dingwall Slade have never played together before, Ford is being targeted so loses ground and dingwall Slade didnt ileven go to the WC so havnt trained in the system, then the system will have been tweeked it will take time.

I actually think roots looks poor at this level so far. Looks off pace.
Why poor? What has he done wrong? It is only his first cap and isnt a flare player

Havnt noticed anything special but also havnt seen anything glaringly poor either.

Either way CCS will replace him.

Either way, I think italy made a great HC hire, crowley did a lot for italian rugby but they look a lot more balanced while also being dangerous ball in hand.

Going by how are defensive system has been since the RWC warm ups. They've fitted it exactly.

Underhill actually kept up our ruck speed by filling in for Mitchell. Done a couple of good runs too
Fair enough, must have missed - stats are reasonable for a forward not doing kick return (4 carries for 14m), about the same as Itoje

I dont think he has been poor, I just dont think he has offered anything of note really (not many have), not sure what he has over a pearson or curry who fit the game plan a bit more.
