[2023 Six Nations] Ireland v England - 18 March 2023

Probably had to be red based on current interpretations but in all honesty these things are often rugby incidences, if a player isn't really initiating the contact it should under some circumstances be mitigation in itself.

Whatever you think of the decision it's a shame for the game.

@TRF_Olyy I can't work out how to DM you but I've got locked out of my normal account so made a new one. Can you help?

Was that even a tackle attempt? If not should officials have followed the high tackle protocols? I'm sure mitigation could have been found even if it was as it was all a bit random.

I think Ireland were starting to find control so probably makes little difference.

Ireland whine about it and get the decision.

Can't argue but no idea what else he could have done.
This is the thing: BC gets the ball a mili second before so he cant attempt to tackle earlier. BC is also leaning forward, so head first. Peyper said 'you were upright'. How the **** is he supposed to position himself if the guy grabs the ball on his face. True, he could have chosen not to contest. Turning the body is, imo, clearly not to attempt to stop the BC but to protect himself from the collision. Almost instinctive. We're watchin most of the replays in slow mow from our couches. It's fast a ****.

If you dont time things perfectly (and know that!) the only move is not to contest and wait, which gives bc momentum. I get why is a red. My point is that he was very, very unlucky.

- Well hallo captain obvious!

How is there no mitigation when the Irish player is that low?

And he's not leading with the elbow, it's tugged to his body
