[2021 Six Nations] France vs Scotland (26/03/21)

If they can find a date to play it with full squads then all well and good play it then. If the Scots will get shafted and not have players for any possible reschedule they should get the points right now, its not them getting the games cancelled.

That's fair comment

Only thing is, define "any possible reschedule"

So for those who didn't follow. Game was on then off but will be back on later. Covid France in a nutshell.

France had 10 players affected and then had a drastic U turn after being convinced all was going to go ahead as usual
Our prime minister is in a building with 10 on the door and has a history of drastic U turns after being convinced all was going to go ahead as usual

Coincidence? I think not.

Let's not forget all those French players and staff have been infected by an English variant that easily bypassed all our security measures, I strongly suspect the MI6 might have a hand in all this...

The plot thickens. Conspiracy against the French.

Bear in mind that a postponement will also impacts Edinburgh and Glasgow in the Pro14, it would also be unfair if rearranging impacted these teams chances of European Rugby next year. This impact would be especially significant if players were not available from outside Scotland. Defaulting France seems the only fair outcome to me.

It's basically hands Glasgow a win v Leinster this weekend if their internationals are available which I don't see why they wouldn't be now.

Final of the Rainbow in in June too so the suggested date has only positive effects for the clubs.

Anybody care to set odds that no more French infections occur?

Not sure why this isn't just forfeited as we have seen works in club rugby. You don't have to do the 28 - 0, BP point win thing either as the premiership has shown. Some incentive to keep players and unions within their bubbles too.

Postponing undermines many other more important competitions and series like the league finals and Lions.

The longer this goes on, the more I tire of the SRU pussyfooting their way into the role of victim in this - if you want to be the victim, have the balls to make an allegation of wrongdoing on FFR's part. Maybe they're a bit gun shy after thying to sue wind in 2019.

You know, before the 6N starts, all nations sign a convention or a contract where all those cases are detailed : whereas cases for forfeit are planned in both club competition and the Autumn Nations Cup, it was never in the card in the 6N. Do you remember any forfeit in a 5N or 6N tournament since the 2WW? When the English farmers fed their cows with junk in 2001 and matches had to be rescheduled by express request of the IRFU, did anybody mention forfeit ?

English?, try British include Wales and Scotland into that nonsense. Why does everyone always refer to the 'English' when its something done by the entire damn country.

Either way its not comparable, first he ramifications of that was not fully foreseen by food industry at the time hence why it was allowed. Secondly the games were not postponed because acts committed by the RFU, WRU or SRU it was literally out of their hands.
In terms of this the FRU didn't have control of the pandemic but they did of their bubble situation and its quite clearly it was heavily breached to have this level of outbreak within the squad. The two things are not directly comparable they aren't even comprable to last year when nobody did anything, international sport has demonstrated on numerous occasions it can conducted safely.

Now because of TV revenue and sponsorship obligations the game will be postponed but it should absolutely be done to Scotland best chance of having a full side and France just has to lump it.

The ultimate reason might well be TV revenue and sponsorship obligations as you correctly state, but the fact is there no provision for forfeiting a team in the rules as validated by all rugby federations for Six Nations Rugby Ltd. None. So no team can be forfeited, even if they forget to set their alarm clock before going to bed and collectively miss the plane.
If there are provisions in the rugby club competitions and in the Autumn Cup rules and none in the 6N championship rules, then we will have to agree it is not because someone neglected to include one. It is by design...
By the way, let us not forget the true reason this match is postponed, not because the French Team is severely depleted, but because any player might be contagious and contaminate the rest of both teams. Let us not forget either that all players except English and French will go back to their club next week ie who can be sure there will not be a similar situation in one of the other nations mid March ? Will you say the bubble has been heavily breached this time?
Matches have been rescheduled before, this one surely will be, finding a slot that will not disadvantage either team.. And who knows who will be available at that time?
