[2021 Six Nations] England Squad

Pretty much what everyone is saying on here. Just add Billy, Youngs and Daly to the list.
I'm not going to lie in that 12 is a problem position for us. But ffs we could have had Redpath at 12 as well as cover, this pretense of forcing a player into the side has hurt us badly.

Now we have Lawrence and Tuilagi, fine but we need more options and good ones too. Freddie Steward due a call up at 15? Marcus Smith at 10 any time soon?

12 isn't the problem per se, Faz is. He's out of form and rusty, but we have played some good rugby with him there in the past.

Lawrence was a very good selection, but handled appallingly. I'm also convinced Devoto could do a decent job and his fitness seems to be good (touch wood).

Ford, Faz and Slade is a bit samey / lightweight for decent opposition.

And we need to forget about Manu, although Jones will pick him as soon as he's had 2 training sessions for Sharks. Just too fragile.

The problem with Manu is he's too good to not include, he's utterly fragile but unlike Binny everyone he comes back he's always at his barnstorming best.

No surprises of my opinion get rid of Faz (put him on the bench if you must) and give Lawrence a proper shot.

That is good news that they don't think he's done his ACL but still quite clear it's a serious knee injury and that his season is over. Probably waiting for the swelling to go down before the surgeon can operate. All the rehab after to look forward to as well. Wishing him a full recovery.

We can always try..

10 Ford
12 Slade
13 Lawrence...

Slade had his best game for a while, as Ford was moving the ball to him quick....then you have a runner at 13.

Slade's never looked comfortable starting at 12 for England tbh,

I'd definitely be interested in a Ford/Lawrence/Slade combo though
Yes Slade is a dilemma. His skills set are made for 12, yet hasnt set the world alight. But i just prefer a runner at 13.

But what are we saying...Farrell wont be dropped.

Slade is absolutely fine ball in hand, he's got a very good running and passing game. It's just getting the ball to him and the back 3.....

(a) At all

(b) On the front foot

(c) With passes that aren't fired at the head / floor.

I was very happy with the Sco selection of Lawrence, Slade, May and Watson. But if you pick players you've got to give them the chance to show why they've been selected.

Growing chorus in the press for Robson to start v Wales. I'd take that. I'd also like to see Faz and Daly benched but only one of those is a possibility.

There are so many crap stats around rugby. I wish Wiki was right about Hill, but suspect Chiefs website is closer to the mark:

Wiki - 2.05m and 134kg

Chiefs - 2.01m and 112kg

Devoto has really blossomed recently.

A Ford, Devoto, Slade midfield would be infers.

I remember how well the Burgess, Slade partnership worked back in 2015, causing lots of issues surrounding Ford.
