[2020 Autumn Nations Cup] England vs Ireland (21/11/20)

To be fair our problems at the breakdown are only partially Pascal's fault, refusing to pick an openside is a factor too.

That's a silly comment. Not saying England haven't been better, but like against France, they have had to rely on a bit magic from Johnny May, rather than being able to score tries as a team.
length of field was special, the other was more because more because Keenan misjudged it. Decent take but hardly magic.

Yeah that's normal in international rugby. The margins are very slim so it takes a bit of magic now and again

That's fair enough, but I feel if we want to be better and winning 90% as EJ is aiming for, then we need need to be able to score more consistently.

On Ireland we are playing utterly shite here. Byrne is not up to this level. He's just taking the ball standing and shipping it on. Our pack are being outplayed in the important facets of the game and the line out is a shambles. I don't want to lay that all on Kelleher, but he's being pressured on the throw very hard. I think between injury and a few players who will break into the side by next year we will be in a way better place, but this is a pretty poor Irish side by our standards.

I'm not wildly worried because Jesus some of these players will not be involved in squads I'm a short time but the game plan looks very non existent against a big physical as per in recent games.

We've been better than I thought we would be but still not good enough. Same issues from our other games against England still exist.

Our inability/refusal to score is our biggest problem, we're not creative enough but also not particularly great at kicking to the corner and driving over. And then we refuse to kick points so no surprise we're still on zero.
The biggest problem is as has been said in commentary refusing to take points and then a line-out miss firing.

Aye I'm surprised you've not exploited how bad we look under the high ball
As long as you don't kick to May in space you should be grand
We started off doing it, got some reasonable success and then gave up and started trying to batter it down the middle against your pack.

Given that kicking is Byrne's main strength along with place kicking and we're doing neither bizarre that he was picked. Billy Burns (sigh) is more suited to what we're trying to do.
