[2018 Six Nations] England Squad

On his day, Clifford is fantastic. I will always remember him burning scott williams from the halfway line, that was fantastic pace. I couldnt see him in the same team as simmonds to be honest. Unless Billy is injured, if you had them both starting, then Underhill would need to be at blindeside and we lack a jackler again. Or we could do an Italy and play flankers in the second row???

What about playing one of the faster backrows in the backs, then we could keep 3 second rows on and move around who packed down where in the scrum depending upon what the move was.

Troll. Come on mate, leave it out. Boring.

Is troll a stock response when someone doesn't have anything to add to the discussion at hand? Why not play Simmonds at 13 for some of the match and swap him in and out of number 8 with Billy?

No matter how fast Simmonds or Clifford are for England, or the likes of Tipuric, Young, Cubby Boi for Wales, Hooper for Aus or Ardie for NZ, the thought of then stepping up and being selected as a centre internationally is ludicrous. In terms of defensive positioning, attacking systems and kicking they would be found out so quickly.

The 13 channel is insanely hard to defend effectively. Managing width, ensuring you don't drift off the inside man, getting your wingers on the right wave length?

The Burgess debacle was bad enough.

You must understand that centres and back rows aren't interchangeable at high level rugby? It's a last stand choice when you've exhausted replacements and are forced to stick a forward into the backs.

Why must I be joking?
Because you don't have an argument against it?
Well... I will humour you for a moment, google when bergamasco played scrum half if u need proof that back rowers shouldn't be backs... If you don't have anything useful to say then dont say anything and nooone will call you a troll

He must be trolling. Saying Binny could be a sub and be brought on anytime between 5 and 60 minutes to surprise the opposition, now this about centres.

Plus he keeps saying 'we' re England despite a WRU emblem on his profile. (EDIT - had an emblem. Now can't view it. )

Same guy that popped up in the Scotland England forum. I thought he was actually gonna be not a troll for a minute, but i've been proved wrong.

Thank you for your considered thoughts. How long would it take to learn these important things about channel 13, or does one just have to feel them? Backs and forward currently aren't interchangeable, but given they are full time professionals if they wanted to they should be able to learn it. It is after all keeping the opposition guessing. Mind games. Always mind games.

Aha, just like Eddie's that you jumped on the bandwagon against earlier.
Please start a welsh trolling thread xx

Surely doing thee goggle thing you suggest will only demonstrate that Bergamasco shouldn't be a scrum half. One example is hardly overwhelming evidence, even you must agree that.
Is there a guide somewhere that you could refer a keen and eager new poster to about what is useful and what is not?

I shouldn't have too... I would hope common sense would prevail but hey ho

Richie Vernon tried 3 years ago and has never hit any great heights.

If they wanted to learn it, yes, over some years they could. However, they wouldn't then be 'interchangeable'. They'd end up becoming specialised in that new position.

Its not some simple switch between being a flanker and a centre, it's a change of mindset, probable change in weight, hughe change in training.

Group think. Nothing more nothing less. No one brave enough to try it, and put the necessary effort into making it work.

Oddly, Tom Youngs comes to mind... A centre at the begging of his career i believe

He was. Big effort for him to put on some serious muscle, and a fair amount of time learning the hooking trade before he made it.
