[2018 November Tests] England vs New Zealand 10/11/18

Even though it paid off that was still the wrong decision. The ABs never really seem to believe in kicking their way back into the game. England showed last week that kicking your pens can keep you in a game even when you're being dominated. Same goes for drop goals. Maybe not beautiful and flowing but they win games which is surely more important.

While I am hoping for a contest..... nea, an England victory of orgasmic proportion, I just cant see us giving the ABs much of a contest.

Couple (three) of years ago, we were ready to play the ABS, but England have rather struggled in the interim. Second half V SA will bolster them, but the ABs are a different level. No disrespect to SA. England will spend their time tackling black shirts, so it'll be a stout rear guard that wins it, if they stand a chance at all. Perhaps I have been away too long. We shall see.
What did I tell ya? ;) I said all week it'll be close.

I spoke about the English defence last week, thats what were seeing now.

The score actually reflects the first half...although I think it should be more like 20-10 to England because they won like 20 minutes of that half. Awesome game so far.

10 points in a couple of minutes. It's what NZ do.

Good first half, but we needed the whistle to break the momentum.

Lawes was walloping people all over the place when he was on.

I know the pundits are loving Farrell at 10 but really haven't seen anything in attack or defence to suggest he is our best 10. Sure he got the DG but he could do that from 12.

Defensively the midfield still isn't working the back row are covering more there but when you're 6 and 7 are making the tackles they cannot attack the breakdown.

Ah ****. Ye threw it away in 5 minutes there lads.

Just switched off before half time...Need to hit them hard straight after and build a lead that we can defend. Then try to keep the pressure on them by kicking deep and forcing them to play.

Lawes can only smash 10s and wouldn't dare do it to another forward. Proceeds to smash NZ forwards

Also Underhill 6 and curry 7 must be our lineup going forward

You could see from the way they set up they had a move the believed would work from there which it essentially did. So it wasn't as simple as pig headedness.

This is like 2012 all over again. Proper hard hitting guts and glory rugby from England supported by a massive home crowd giving it some 16th man action.

Underhill is an Fing hero, Young's playing well, May just everywhere, the pack pumped and firing, rucking, mauling, line outs. We're just completely slowing the ABs down in their attack and they look rattled. And our attack has bite, even with the ABs lying all the over the ball, and offside at every opportunity which as always goes unnoticed/ignored by the ref.

40 more minutes of this boys, this passion, execution, and we you will put the ABs away.

It's a long way to go, but I'm gonna dare to dream.

Can someone walk me through the "I know they scored but it was still a bad call" idea....seems like we did exactly what we wanted to do

Also, the two smiths are generally considered to be in some of their best form back home, Bens been one of the few guys out there for us to get some real gains

I think it was more the potential to go wrong and the fact that NZ at that point needed any points. It was high risk for high rewards and worked. If it hadn't then they would have been crucified for poor decision making.

Crotty did more in 5 mins than SBW did in 35mins. Would not be surprised if Nonu gets back into the AB RWC squad next year. SBW is a finisher at best.

Ab cleared out a ruck perpendicular to where they should have been...
Thy always get away with none sense like that. If you can be bothered to check the stats they get penalised significantly less than any other team, or receive more lenient punishment for Luke offences. It cognitive bias from the refs. ABs are so good that they surely couldn't have infringed. It's what Macaw traded on all his career.

Yeh but you didn't get the 3 points soooooo

He gave a good offload early and has been tackling strongly. Crotty came on just when Barrett decided to pass it. SBW was on during Barretts kicking fest.

Its a percentages thing most of the time it doesn't (look at SA last week). Fair enough sometimes it does work and there are situations where it's required. Just because you make a call and it works doesn't make it the right one it's only the right one of.the game situation required you to do it.

I know it's baffling logic to explain but you have to look at decisions liked that before hynesight.

Robshaw going for the corner in the RWC, for example.
