[2018 November Tests] England vs Australia (24/11/18)

Although I supported dropping Brown and I do think he has lost some pace, no one has stepped up to take his place. I thought Watson might have been, but now this close to the world cup and with him injured I think we have to go back to Brown as we know what he brings.

Agreed.

Now that probably highlights some failings of the RFU/Eddie Jones. That we're likely to see Brown at this world cup with many options available isn't great, with respect to Brown as I quite like his attitude and how he plays but is his body up to international standard these days, never mind a world cup? No doubt he will prove us all wrong as he has been known to in the past but what comes after that or if injuries play a part? Similar could be said of other positions like 9 too...

Would imagine that Jack Nowell might be worried about going to Japan after today, good squad player for sure, but is there room?

Chieka is a being a but unprofessional isn't he...

Knows his job is on the line
What did he have to say? Having a pop at the officials is his standard attack. He's a complete bellend really and most Aussies find him to be an embarrassment.

At least we didn't labour to a 9-6 win too.

All good today. Lot to think about. Some exciting options but also decisions to be made. But at least we have decisions to make

I'd feel a bit sorry for Australia if anyone but Chieka were in charge. Actually I wouldn't, but it's funnier because he is. Despite thinking that that Sky interviewer if a prize arse (she should be sacked IMO) watching apoplexy get the better of poor little Michael was most gratifying.

As far a England go. I liked what I saw today. For the first time in ages they knew they were letting it slip and took it upon themselves to sort it out. Sinckler eventually will do something monumentally stupid and get binned / off but we've been far too polite for too long. Everyone hates us, they always will. No point in being all gentlemanly about it.

Agreed! I'm fed up with us being stiff upper lip or gentlemen. Lets be areseholes, even when we're not everyone thinks we are. Lets use that aggression and really annoy everyone....

Few quick thoughts:

- We actually looked pretty good at times today in attack. Farrell still doesn't threaten the line at all from 10 so we do need some good go forward before our centres do much.
- Slade and Shields have gotten steadily better over the series, both arguably having their best games in an England shirt. Still, if all are fit, they should only be squad players.
- Daly isn't a 15. For all the good he does in attack, his positioning, high ball skills and tackling aren't really up to scratch. Until Watson is fit, I;d go back to Brow. Hard to pick a back three then though, you'd have to drop Cokanasiga. Even though he has been pretty bloody good.
- Itoje only gave away one stupid penalty that I can think of. Woooo!
- Our 9s are all ****.

Well he certainly looks shite whilst playing at FB and given he's never going to get a run at 13...it's a worry.
Might be a worry for Daly, but it's great for Eng. He's one of our best open field runners and he's got a good kicking game, but.....

He's not one of our best 2 wings.

He's not our best 13.

He's not our best fullback. That's still Brown and given the attacking potency of May, Coka and Watson, I'd be pretty relaxed about him playing and he'll deffo be in Japan. But if he's fit I can see Watson being given a shot in the 6N, not as solid as Brown, but more natural than Daly.

Daly's a very good player, but if everyone's fit (will never happen obvs) I really can see Jones being tempted by:

Youngs
Faz
May
Te'o
Tuilagi
Cokanasiga
Watson

Care, Ford, Daly.

And even if one of those centres goes down I can see the other at 12 and JJ at 13.

Really? I can't see 2 out and out crash ball centres going well. I also think it's a bit unfair to point blank say Daly isn't our best 13; JJ hasn't been in the best form for a while now and Tuilagi's being held together with duct tape. Given the opportunity, I think Daly could definitely prove to be our best 13. I just doubt he'll get that opportunity.

I still think JJ is our best 13 his attack seems to swing from excellent to non existent at times granted but the defence always looks so much more solid with him in it, as for Noel he's a great player but... his stand out attribute is probably his strength riding tackles and getting on the front foot Joe offers that with pace so I only really see him fitting if due to injury.

Daly really hasn't been given an oppertunity at 13 EJ has in the past tried to liken him to Robinson I am assuming for that reason he persists in trying to turn him into a 15 unless that changes we simply will not know.
