[2017 Super Rugby] Round 3: Jaguares vs. Lions (11/03/2017)

But why lose 4 points? With the whole team this was a match Lions could take and afford to lose other more challenging one. Now they have given life to a team that even tho is has random performances if it gains confidence and start being consistent could snatch a place in quarterfinals.

Bad call by lions i think.

Sanchez cited. Citing commissioner thought it should have been a red.

What bothers me is that both of Sanchez' "questionable" penalties were completely unnecessary and either one on their own could have left us with 14 men.

Im happy about the result, but we got lucky. Everything (injuries, funerals, births, yellows, the lot) went our way.

To be fair I'm not sure the Lions have that many more challenging fixtures when you factor in travel.

The Brumbies and Reds look OK but aren't too threatening. The Lions have already done for arguably the toughest the Aussies have to offer.

Other than that it's just the big Saffer derbies, and a 2 hours plane trip isn't quite as onerous as a trip to Argentina.

That said I do think it's arrogant to "throw" a game this early in the season. Not taking anything away from the Jaguares as I think they'll be very tough to beat this year, but as I've mentioned I do think this was a second string side.

I could not agree more. Lions coach did not do himself any favors regarding coaching the National team in the near future, making the same mistake two years in a row. Plus using his bench ineffectively.

Well, this game had a very poor referee. Some of his decisions were just aweful. And Sanchez should have got a red card, he did exactly the same thing that CJ Stander did against Lambie in last year's SA vs Ireland series. Perhaps Sanchez was even more guilty as you could clearly see on the highlights how he looked at the player and not the ball before he jumped.

Both teams were poor, but in all honesty, if the referee was better, it could have been a lot worse for the Jaguares.

Not of them were for red. 1st one was late but no bad as going for a player in the air. 2nd we went for a tackle with open arms but could not close the arms cause of the hit. Both yellow? Yes. Red no way.
