[2017 Super Rugby] Round 2: Stormers vs. Jaguares (04/03/2017)

Wanna see the missed tackles stat asap. Through the roof.

vamos!! Nice job guys

Those kicks are killing us.

What happened to the off load game? We re trying to out muscle them on contact ayyy.

When the Jaguares can half break tackles get their offloads off they can really punish teams. They thrive off the broken field. They can't let themselves get bogged down in a kicking contest, because it's a contest they just are not winning today.

Same old, same old for the Jaguares. Frustrating as they looked more disciplined for much of this game.

Entertaining game. I can understand the frustrations though it isn't over yet.. hope I can seigh a HUGE sigh od relief in a few minutes..

well at least its an improvement. the sour taste comes from the two yellows as usual. high points for jaguares lezana, mattera, orlando, cordero and toculet. beltramou a good surprise too. we did better than expected. does enyone know if nico is injured?

Actually, I'm happy with the general performace. Good signs for the future. Although, the 2 yellows are the obvious downside.

I think both sides have quite a bit of upward potential although it is very hard to predict what the season holds for either side. The first of four very tough away games this year for the Jaguares in South Africa (weeks 7-9 its Sharks, Bulls & Lions in a row it looks like?) and I'd imagine they need to pick up at least one away win out of those to stand a chance of making the playoffs.

The Stormers starting XV should be the Springboks starting XV this year. They dominated a Tier 1 nation

Our offense was okish but our defense and kicking game are still bad. Their first two tries were comedies of errors from our part. Add the discipline factor and that a losing combo. If we play like this against the lions they will tear us a new one. Our best shot at winning an away game in RSA is against the bulls, hands down. That game is critical if we want to qualify. Sharks would be ideal but that s a long shot imo.

I wasn't able to watch the 2nd half, were the yellows really deserved or the classic nitpicking from the sanzar refs against ARG?

man you should review you concept of domination. jags dominated some moments too. i saw a quite leveled game.

Your conference isn't facing NZ sides while ours is. I would be surprised if 'SA' conference two didn't deliver two play off teams. Lets face it. As promising as the Stormers' season start has been we aren't going to take more than maybe 1 NZ scalp I'd wager. The Sharks look very beatable. I'd imagine its an even race between the Sharks and Jaguares to make the play-offs. I'm betting on the Lions and Stormers to round it out but I am very wary of those Bulls. Traveling teams can find it hard at Loftus and I'm not counting out my pre-season prediction of them getting in ahead of us.

Lol, I like it! But under Coetzee we'd just revert to solely backing our defense and set piece again.

All in all a good week for SA rugby with wins over Sunwolves, Brumbies, Waratahs and Jaguares. Those NZ sides are looming large though. Hurricanes in particular look to be on another level or is it just the level of competition they've faced?

I'd agree with that - it's very hard for a second team to come out of SA1. Plus the Cheetahs look capable of picking up wins against the Stormers and Bulls too (currently outplaying the Bulls).

Yeah. I've been overdosing on rugby as I had a dose of the cold and I'm impressed at how quickly the SA sides are taking to more open rugby. I thought they'd really struggle as it maybe wasn't how they have been brought up to play the game. It'll be a work in progress for several years though except possibly for the Lions.

Hurricanes opposition has been defensively awful. But they are clearly favourites with the Chiefs I'd imagine. Defending champions with the addition of NMS are going to put a lot of teams to the sword.
