DDA out with an ankle injury for roughly 12 weeks.
Not good for us at all, I know a lot of people have gone sour on him but with our other injuries he's one of the most experienced backs we have, and I've always believed he has huge potential and a good skill set.
In any case we have to move on, luckily there are a couple youngsters who could potential take his place in Dan Kriel and Daniel du Plessis, haven't seen either of them play since u-20 level but hopefully they can do the job.

Otherwise it was great to see us playing a more expansive game last week, without compromising on our physicality. I can only hope we can keep it up but I'm cautiously excited. Also we need to get Seabelo in the team ASAP, Kolbe and Leyds are both able players but neither have the raw talent or high ceiling of Senatla.

Rob du Preez is also a candidate for the 12 jersey. Agreed I would love to see Senatla get a look in at the expense of probably Lleyds not that he has done anything not to warrant selection mind you.

A couple of possibly porous defences and very open attacks. I expect 75+ points if the weather is good.

Sanchez is back which might give the Jaguares more of a chance.

Yeah I was thinking Rob du Preez, he's a little skinny to be an inside at the moment but as the 6'3 midget of the du Preez clan all he would need to do is fill out a little, I really like the idea but I'm not sure they have the stones to try it.

I'd actually drop Cheslin for Senatla before Lleyds, I think our loose style suits Lleyds, and he even came into first receiver one or twice against the Bulls. As much as I like Cheslin he needs space to work his magic, when he receives the ball on the wing he tends to just get smothered. I'd play him at FB or not at all.

Not sure what to expect from the Jags this coming week, but we should be winning our home games against almost everyone if we want to be real contenders. A must win game for me, if we cant beat the Jags we certainly won't beat the Lions, Chiefs or Blues when they come visit.

Our NZ schedule is extremely rough with the Saders, Highlanders and Canes away on the trot. 1/3 would be a good take away from that tour.

Thats what I thought at first as well but then I thought about guys like Kurtley Beale, Matt Giteau and the like. Not that I think Du Preez is anywhere near as an elusive runner like those two but we certainly have a penchant to throw away the small midfielder in SA.

If we really wanted to get silly we play Rob at 12 and Kolbe at 9 then our entire back line has played 15 for the majority of their careers (if counting senior high school rugby).

I dont see how Stormers could lose this one. Maybe you wont get bonus.

I penciled down this one as a loss when i did my pre-season predictions, but we are so irregular that god knows.

Very glad this match-up is in Cape Town this year. Think its up for grabs but I am hoping home ground advantage pulls us through and hoping we can build on that 1st half vs the Bulls.

I hate that the Stormers and Jaguares are always the last teams to release line-ups as these are the to teams I probably follow most closely.

Stormers Squad:
15 SP Marais, 14 Cheslin Kolbe, 13 EW Viljoen, 12 Dan Kriel, 11 Dillyn Leyds, 10 Jean-Luc du Plessis, 9 Jano Vermaak, 8 Sikhumbuzo Notshe, 7 Siya Kolisi (captain), 6 Rynhardt Elstadt, 5 Pieter-Steph du Toit, 4 Eben Etzebeth (vice-captain), 3 Wilco Louw, 2 Bongi Mbonambi, 1 JC Janse van Rensburg.
Replacements: 16 Ramone Samuels, 17 Oli Kebble, 18 Frans Malherbe, 19 Chris van Zyl, 20 Nizaam Carr, 21 Dewaldt Duvenage, 22 Robert du Preez, 23 Seabelo Senatla.

So we get Dan Kriel rather than Rob du Preez at 12 which I can live with.
I also like the fact that we are willing to drop Carr, he's been our worst Loosie for a while now.
Lastly we get Senatla on the bench, hopefully he gets some game time this weekend!

As for Jags, same team with Sanchez and probably Hernandez. IF and its a big IF they are helthy enough then Jags are going to be tougher.

And Benjamin Macome could make his debut in SR. So in the bench they have two options (with Marcos Kremer) for the second/third row.

Can any of our Argentinian friends help me out with what happened to Manuel Montero, I remember him being fantastic for Argentina a couple of years back against the Boks and haven't seen much from him since.

He had a knee injury in a warm up just before the RWC, and after the surgery he was almost a year in recovery. Then he has suffered some minor injuries, such as a muscular injury a month ago. I think he will be available for the coming matches in Buenos Aires.

He is mentally broken also. You can see how he plays we fear of injury. I hope he gets healthy a few years so he can live to expectations again.
