[2016 RBS Six Nations] Round 5: Ireland vs. Scotland (19/03/2016)

Rumours strong that the Schmidt's are more than likely moving back home next year. Joe has already been passing the CV around and is very likely to be seen in Super Rugby

Christ, I'd have thought the man would want to go the next World Cup after the last failure, can't blame him for going home though. Pat Lam in then? Certainly no viable Irish candidates with hair.

Big Brian McLaughlin

Such a shame if he leaves but if it is personal reasons then it's understandable.

I imagine the Ireland job is pretty big these days so wonder who we would get in!

Was speaking to somebody who met Joe at an event recently, said he was leaving to Melbourne the next day to meet an epilepsy specialist there. Figures that he's setting up plans for being back in that part of the world sooner rather than later.

Alpha I think he knows the next World Cup we won't be challengers and it's a 6 year project now. But I wouldn't mind Lam. Lynam is right. The sources I know say it is to do with personal decisions as well as rugby. Her wants to settle with his son in 1 spot from now on and his other son will be near college and it's down under they want him to go. Regards New Zealand he knows he won't be getting top job in 2017 regardless of what Hansen does. So he knows it's either be with NZ as an assistant or work towards top job. But I think either way he accepts that he will be back in New Zealand. Or would he go to Australia I wonder

Plenty of contenders out there like Stuart Lancaster, Kidney, McLaughlin, Saint-Andre, Axel Foley (the IRFU will have to buy out his contract though), Matt O'Connor etc but my nomination is for a return of the triple crown king, Eddie O'Sullivan. EOS fell out with the IRFU but I'm sure thats one bell thats easily unrung.

Honest question.... Is that a joke?

Maybe Andy Farrell as head coach with Lancaster as his assistant just like the good old days ;)

This is a genuine 50/50 match for me I am really looking forward to this more than any other game this weekend . Scotland have been excellent recently on the attack really good to watch , quick ball and breaking the gain line frequently, Ireland have shown against Italy that they have that ability too and are difficult to stop once they get that tempo up , for me defense is going to be key , both laidlaw and sexton don't miss much so the best defense might just edge this game and for me Ireland maybe have the better defense slightly but this game goes either way and no more than 7 I reckon

I totally agree. I think Ireland edge it as Scotland just make far too many basic individual, and collective, errors. If Scotland are to win we have to buck this trend and raise our game from last week. France didn't punish our sloppy clearouts and other basics. Ireland will

After reading the words "Axel Foley", I'm surprised you had to ask. :p

Oh sorry. This place is reaching new depths of despair and derangement so i just had to ask.

On the game. Scotland have either won or lost narrowly in every game so far but i think Ireland will beat them comfortably enough. Ireland by 11.

Don't quite follow the logic. Scotland having won or been beaten narrowly by teams who have either beaten or drawn with Ireland. So this leads you to believe Ireland should win "comfortably'? I assume you've seen something in Ireland's training sessions to make that leap of skewed logic

Are you offended i think Ireland will win comfortably? If so I wouldn't let it bother you.

Not at all. As I said in a previous post, I think Ireland will if Scotland can't sort out the errors. I just can't follow your nonsensical thought process.

But don't let it bother you.

Ha ha. Ok.

I shouldn't have to but i'll explain my post for you. My point was that logic dictates another tight game is in store BUT i feel Ireland will up their performance and will really look to lay down a marker. Sport is not played on paper and it doesn't allows follow predestined, logical patterns. My view is as valid as anyones until the final whistle.

Hope that helps. Enjoy the game.

Just checked all previous posts and can't see anyone suggesting your views are invalid. All views are and always will be our right to express. It just helps if they are put forward in clear manner that others can follow.

Anyway, I would say good luck, but I'm hoping to catch a good view of the blue moon tonight after Scotland's third 6 nations win in a row.

I wouldn't be at all confident of a win. In 3 matches we scored 2 tries. Last week the floodgates opened but against a rabble that was Italy.
