[2015 RWC] Pool B: Samoa vs. Scotland (10/10/2015)

I saw the "idiot" part before you changed the post......think I yanked your chain too much, peace......

Anyways, I'm still rooting for Scotland, because I loved the movie Braveheart, and I don't want Japan to go through (bad loser).

South Africa's alleged foul play is barely relevant to this thread; I wonder if we have veered off topic. There is a thread about cheating where we could take this discussion.

Agreed, apologies.

it will be a shame if japan go out,to me they have been the most enjoyable team to watch

Unfortunately, Japan are relying on Samoa to play smart disciplined rugby for 80 minutes against a good Scottish side and still come up with a win.

Can't see it happening..would be Great for Japan to get through

interesting that people are commenting on scotland beat japan etc so if the best team goes through then scotland deserve it. i actually believe japan could have possibly beaten scotland had they not had a 3/4 day turnaround. i wouldnt mind either going through but i cannot see samoa beating scotland, all the samoan's see to be doing is making the most illegal tackles/giving away pentalties.

Scotland as expected going with their strongest possible team, though you could argue the point about a couple of positions.

Anything but bloody Braveheart! A nonsensical movie starring a short American as a Scottish hero who was inordinately tall for his era. It was the biggest piece of historical bull-doody I can remember, with the possible exception of Liam Neeson as Rob Roy.

Mel Gibsons an Aussie.

I like Braveheart, not for its historical inaccuracies, but for the music and some of the battle scenes, had a strong impact on me as a kid and instilled some pride into Scotland. Sure it was cheesey in areas, but he put Scotland on the map.

the music was quality

It was a good movie in terms of brainless action for a couple of hours but historically speaking it was nonsense. No mention of Andre Moray, the battle of Stirling didn't have a bridge (which was kind of important to the battle), and the French princess was about three years old at the time of the events.

But I digress.

Yes, because what people want to see is historical accuracy.. come on mate, if you want historical accuracy watch the history channel, if you want entertainment watch a movie. Don't be such a stiff.

Andrew murray was joint leader at stirling bridge but died of his injuries, but still loved the movie even though it wasn't the true story of wullie wallace

I enjoy the movie, I know its complete historical nonsense though haha.

Then Trainspotting came out a year later, that was historically accurate account of Scotland, hahah..

Relax those knickers of yours 'mate'. I was merely taking part in the good natured ribbing of Braveheart.

Braveheart as a movie invited obvious criticism Despite this I recall the rapturous response as people stood up at the end and clapped and cheered . It heralded a time when Scotland realised we were not just cannon fodder for the establishment of a British Colonial Empire but were a Nation in its own right . History since then has proven the point .
