[2015 RWC] Pool A: England vs. Australia (03/10/2015)

You just cant help some people.....

Anyhoo

Score prediction 21- 10.
Wallabies to have a quiet start then come over the top in the last 20.

I think England may score more than 10_points today

Lads and Ladies

It really is quite simple. This is a fair and epic match up. Both sides have their strengths and weakness and the capacity to break down the other team. England have superior kicker, better set piece, heavier pack, and I would stretch to say more dangerous back three over all.
Aus have better ball skills overall, quicker thinking, better fetchers and more experience.
Both teams are fit and ready. So it's gonna come down to which team can play the game the way they want in the right areas of the field. And of course who wants it more, and in this scenario if England don't want it more then we deserve to be knocked out.
So England are angry, fired up, and have all the things they need to beat this Aussie side, and I back them to do just that. I think Aus psychologically will be thinking they are through anyway with a likely win against a badly depleted Welsh side and will go through top, meaning they won't want to throw too much at the game so they can save themselves for the knockouts. England in the other hand will throw everything and kitchen sink, and England's everything is quite a bit.

So bring it on. And on this charge cry for England, Harry and St George!!!
Slight problem with this scenario.

If there is one team we enjoy beating more than the All Blacks it is the English. I doubt if they get the foot on the throat that theyll take it off. Especialy now with all the kind words being said about em from England.

I want England and Australia to progress, so I hope for an improved English performance this game, 4 tries each in a close game with England on top, and then Wallabies to smash Wales
Possible???

Still hurting from the first game ?? Diddums

Pressure failure

I don't care about their two fetchers. I don't care about the mind games. I don't care about the selection. This England setup have a track record of folding under pressure. I can see no reason whatever to believe that can be changed whilst retaining the same personnel who have done it previously.

This is the highest pressure game any of the players (bar Easter) will have experienced.

Some of my best friends are Welsh, but I could quite happily have shot them last week!

When England lose tomorrow, does that mean the crowd will stop singing Swing Low, Sweet Chariot?

I'd imagine he lives in Australia. Where I'm about to move to next year as well. (Brisbane)

Idiot.

England have been torn to shreds this week.

I don't think they'll have anything other than revenge and bitterness on their minds.

I think England are going to win in a close game. On the other hand, I could equally see us getting smashed and dumped out of the world cup.

I think I said before the Wales game I'm a glass half empty kind of guy when it comes to English rugby. However, even for me I'm unusually miserably confident that we'll get beaten today. Normally I just assume I'm being a miserable curmudgeon but a combination of things have me doubting whether I'll be doing anything other than crying into my curry this evening.

Why on earth do we appear to think that we somehow have a better than even chance against a team that won the rugby championship beating the All Blacks along the way? We lost to a depleted Welsh side who play a limited game (they do it well) that we should be able to match up to. We didn't and were fairly beaten by a side that outplayed us. We cannot match the Australians. Probably not anywhere. Gone are the days of Sheridan folding their front row in half. With Youngs and his total inability to hook we're as likely to get driven off our own ball as we are to boss them around. We won't dominate the lineout. Their half backs are better, their centres are better and their wings are capable and their full back is different, but well better. What exactly is it apart from trying really really hard that England are going to bring to the table that wins the game? I just don't see it. If Australia get a start I can see a slaughter as we try and chase a game. The thought of Brad Barritt forcing passes against a clever midfield gives me the fear it'll be interceptarama.

Someone, anyone give me a reason to cheer up?

No name calling now , don't get personal!

Well then it's game over Australia. Knocked out in the pool stages, ouch.

TBH mate I wouldn't be totally surprised to see that happen... Australia are just are very hard side to pick right now, but ultimately I just think our halves lack the necessary class at this level to win the big games.

I don't really know what to expect though... Foley kicked brilliantly in 2014, so if he can rediscover that form and our forwards get parity with England in the set piece, then we're a solid shot.
