[2015 RWC] Pool A: England vs. Australia (03/10/2015)

Yes generally mean the 6 nations , although most would agree that we should of been in the final against the AB s in 2011 due to playing the semi final with 14 , not saying we would of won but considering the performance of the ABs in that final any was possible
Only the Welsh say that....

Why "should" you have been playing in the final ? You captain got himself sent off and the French beat you ....

We should have beaten you last week but didn't ....

England but not by a huge amount.

1 jan 2006 to 18 Sep 2015

England record 63/116 54%
Wales record 56/120 47%

It might be worth to note that England have played NZ 4 more time than Wales (8 games to 12), SA 2 more times (13 games to 15) but Wales have played Aus (the weaker out of SH teams and one I'm reluctant to call top 3 size, we have a top 2) 4 more time (15 games to 11).

Australia weak? They won the rugby championship , will see how weak they are on Saturday ;)

Gonna pre-empt this one, even Warburton and Gatland said he should of been sent off.

Attwood wasn't part of the 31, if I remember rightly.

I have to say I still haven't shaken off my doubts over Jonny May's defensive ability. Don't get me wrong, he has shown brilliant attacking play recently but he has been caught out of position once or twice and seems to lack the solidarity and stopping power that someone like Jack Nowell brings. Exeter bias aside and despite recent performances from May, I would like to have seen Nowell on the wing against a rampaging Australian backline. RE: Burgess, I think England will have to play hard and fast to counteract their weakness at the breakdown and for me Burgess has done enough to play on Saturday. I would rather see him at 12 and Nowell/Slade at 23 but Barritt seems to be destined to play every match despite his poor performances.

I don't quite understand SL's reluctance to use Nowell. He covers two players immediately and with Watson and Brown on the pitch he effectively covers fullback as well. He also has the knowledge of playing 13 & 15.

Instead (as much as Burgess has played well) SL picks a specialist 12 who covers one position and we already have on field cover in Farrell. Very confusing.

He's talking about the last decade. In that period, Australia have tended to be the more beatable team of the three.

Yeah ummm, they've been weak in that time frame even Wales managed to beat them last year ;) Just because they suddenly found form in this edition of the rugby championship doesn't mean England didn't consistently have the measure of them over 10 years. Which why I refuse to elevate them pedestal with team we can't beat regularly like NZ and SA.

No you shouldn't have , you had 15 men on the field! That was never a straight red by any stretch and not that early. The correct call was yellow and with 15 men that day I know we would of beaten france

Yeh oure right Attwood wasn't.

I always thought he was.... that was a stupid move IMO.

If Lancaster wasn't so dead set on using Burgess in the backs he could of had a bench of

16) Webber
17) Vunipola
18) Brookes
19) Easter/Kruis
20) Brugess
21) Wigglesworth
22) Ford
23) Nowell

Typical Welsh arrogance.

The citing commissioner disagrees with you, Gatland disagrees with you even the player himself disagrees with you.

Above horizontal ? Yes
Did he drop him ? Yes
Is it a red card ? Yes

Even Gats and Sam said it was .....

You're one of those Welsh fans that blames the ref for everything aren't you ? Probably think Hogg deserved to get sent off vs Wales but Sam definitely shouldn't have

Also can someone ask smartcooky where in the law book it says a red card can't be given in the opening minutes of the game?

Nowell, Slade and Attwood should just go back their clubs and play the preseasons, there's no point in them being locked away at pennyhill.

Did you not know that ! Also you can't send a Welsh player off in a game where Wales think they win the World Cup if they win a semi final ...... Even though the best team ever are waiting for them in the final

And no sendings off on St. David's day too or if you are holding a daffodil listening to Tom Jones

Attwood already is.

I forgot Kruis was in instead of Attwood to.

So they have 2 open sides to our none to service a back line which also happens to be vastly more experienced, not to mention better, than ours.

Trying to match like for like will be madness. Sorry, but our only hope here is for our pack to dominate and play a tight game. This a match with consequences, not an AI against knackered tourists longing for home.

I like both Easter and Kruis, but they have precisely nil minutes played in this RWC so far and provide a completely unbalanced bench. Easter is out and out 8 and an emergency lock at best; his inclusion can only mean that there are doubts over Morgan.

And to combat that mobile Aussie back row, what the hell happens if one of our flankers goes down? I gather Kruis has played a bit at 6, but I've never seen it even at club level and would be yet another totally unfair ask. Or maybe Launch would go to the back row with Kruis locking? Still reasonably unfair and I wouldn't bet my house against Burgess making an appearance in the back row either. I just don't know!

Can't help feeling that there are some huge gambles with the fitness of JJ, Morgan and Youngs going on. Any of these pulling up early will be disastrous and I don't even want to think about that happening to JJ....

EVEN WALES- you best hope you win on Saturday. Well they've out performed England at world cups , and lost by a drop goal to you in the final , hardly a team I would call weak.
