[2015 RWC] Pool A: Australia vs. Wales (10/10/2015)

???

- - - Updated - - -

Welsh fans (in general)

You've not beaten Australia in 7 years
Australia are probably the best they've been in 7 years
You have umpteen injuries to your first team squad.

Not saying you can't win this but there's a reason why people aren't putting much faith in it.

Go on holiday and get over, it would appear that others have now noticed your wind up tactics, its not big and its not clever, it would appear your the biggest troll in the village.
Sorry about using the word troll it is very playground and is usually used a substitute for comming back with a decent argument, I won't use it again.

They made the Semi-finals last RWC and nearly made the final, pretty average effort huh.

Thanks, well said mate.

Im not being a c**t here, I'm jus stating something i would like to see.
I would like to see Wales lose by 8 points and score a maximum of 3 tries, so no bonus point.
Why?
Well it occurs to me that England, had Robshaw taken the kick and got a draw from the game, would still be going through to the knockout round if Wales lose and get no bonus point.
It would drive home a valid point that captaincy in pressure situations demands a smart player with a cool head.
Point the finger t Lancaster as much as you like, if Wales lose without a bonus point, Robshaw ends up being the singular reason England are not going through.

Troll for what pointing out you had already seen my comment yesterday and we'd traded posts on it or a troll for pointing out Wales' poor record against Australia when everyone asking why others are not rating their chances? I'm not sure you know what a troll is.

But...nothing he said there is incorrect. Not really trolling to state a few facts. Just relax. Wales enjoy being the underdog and let's face it - in this situation we are, you can hardly blame people for thinking Aus have a better chance. The Wallabies are riding the crest of a wave at the moment and it's going to take a monumental effort from Wales to win this match. Thankfully, I think we've got a damn good side even taking the injuries into account. If we do this there will be a few household names struggling to get their places back when they return to fitness!

Man, people talk like that kick that never happened went over.

Slightly off topic here I suggest one of the many England threads. Yes it can be distilled to that one moment but it's all the decisions that led to that point. A bit like England didn't win the world cup just because Jonny Wilkison kicked a dropped goal.

Both teams look stronger on paper than I anticipated. Good to see Folau making it. I guess Aus will be favorites seeing as they have continuity going for them but I have to admit I am looking forward to seeing if a few of those exciting if somewhat untested Welsh selections pay dividends; I suspect it might.

Whatever happens I'm sure it'll live up to the two previous massive tests (Eng vs Wales and Eng vs Aus) that this pool has already given us! This pool and this RWC has me all for keeping the format as is. Maybe just make the draw taking into account form over as long a timeframe as possible (logistical admins need a bit of a heads-up) rather than just an arbitrary snap-shot of the rankings at any given point. And then keep the timing of fixtures random (ITO the teams I mean, not when etc); it kinda seems as if top teams get the benefit of better scheduling.

I think everyone wants the format kept the same until it costs them a place in the quarters . In my opinion it's pretty stupid . The mere fact that so far France and Ireland have both played Italy, Romania and Canada and group A have to play between England, Wales, Australia and Fiji is a complete joke . Next time round we will just put SA, NZ and Australia I. The same group and see if it gets the applause then .......

We were 3rd in the 1st WC, then the advent of professional rugby was slow to take hold in Wales, but lets look at current form over this and the 2011 WC, we made the semi's in 2011 and could go all the way this time round.
Question for you, bearing in mind that recent WC form is the most relevant if we don't do well, i hate to think how you would describe England, but then again your comments seem like the typical arrogant comments we would expect from certain supporters.
Why can you not be gracious in defeat and accept that when it came to both players and management our top couple of inches were better than yours.

Arrogant ?

I was merely pointing out why I think Wales are being written off, in answer to the statement by Rubber Jay when he wrote "I fail to understand how so many people here can write off us welsh".

Now it's obvious you don't like my reply, but was it really arrogant ?

Maybe I should of added I didn't expect England to beat Oz either to make you feel better.

Honestly if you mention that robshaw should of pointed to the posts one more time.... Please , England are OUT, should of would of could of, its history most of the English have put it behind them now

Let's keep this thread to the merits of Wales and Australia . If you want to talk about England's shortcomings there is a thread for that .

Quite frankly I think you are the only person that isn't over it lol .....

Rubber Jay?? Hahaha class!! That made me laugh, as for your point on our win ratio against SH teams yes our record is not great but in the Autumn Internationals we did beat South Africa so there is a slight silver lining. However I really don't see your reply as arrogant just a fair statement so anyone else should see that too.

Australia are looking like a better side and deservingly so but I do think people are taking the welsh a bit too lightly and either way Wales might have to face a SH team at some point if we get to the semi's or final. I do think South Africa really don't want to face Australia or Wales tbh since we have proven we can beat them and so have the Aussie's.

Nearly every man and his dog has beaten South Africa in the last 18 months. Aussies have got the wood over you mate, you can't deal with their backs and what's even worse for you now is Pocock. I do want you to win though. It'd be nice to have a crack at Aussie in the semi-finals - if we get there.

I was more worried about Hooper and Pocock together but now we have Tipuric and Warburton to deal with him on his own, and the back line is scary make no bones about it but they succumb to pressure if enough is applied. SH team's greatest weakness if they cant get the ball or are closed down far too quickly they end up giving away a lot of penalties.

I'd like South Africa to face Australia in the QF if possible. Straight up tough game and get it over with. That would be awesome.

Love that you have gone for Moriaty on the bench too. All about an attacking backrow and you've got that in spades now. Pains me to say it, but I fancy you guys now. If the wings can lock it down this week, North and Roberts could do some damage come the knock out stages of the tournament.

Moriarty is a man to watch I also think Gatland is using a little bit of psychology on Faletau by making him believe this young player is on the bench to take his place which might make him want to play 100% since for a good 2 years now Faletau had been unimpressive until the world cup.

North I think is better suited to the Centre as he will be looking for work and more involved than sat out on the wing a bit too much.

My main concern is Gareth Anscombe since I don't know too much about his playing ability.

Everyone except England really. ;)
