2014 Six Nations: Wales

Ball will be in the 2015 squad. Evans might have ****ed himself, Gatland will want consistency.
In fact, I'd say the only second row nailed on for 2015 is AWJ. Davies hasn't performed for a few years, Charteris constantly injured.

@duck. I'll say two biscuits and a wink at the judge.

I'm gonna be brave and call it: Samson Lee should start in the Six Nations.

1. It is a great time for Adam Jones to get some rest. When a Lions tour breaks up the summer rest, it can be hard on a player. Especially one so far into their career. Adam Jones needs preserving for 2015.

2. Adam Jones coming on at 50 minutes with Paul James (presuming Paul James doesn't start)? Would scare any team. And I think we'll see the best from him as a powerful sub to bring on later in the game, especially over the course of the next few years.

3. The Scarlets scrum is formidable. Enough so that I had Phil John starting for Wales (easily the biggest casualty of the Wales squad announcement - he's come good under the new rules). Scarlets pushed the Ospreys scrum around over the course of two games over Christmas and Samson Lee was a big part of it.

4. Samson Lee has form over Jones, I believe? The new engagement rules have seen Adam Jones not so dominant, and Samson Lee laying down a marker you see few props achieve at 21.

Nurture this guy right, and it's like you've gotten another Adam Jones all over again. :p

I hope that you weren't being serious there ...

I have heard it all now Big Phil for Wales ...

Anybody care to explain why Ian Evans has 13 weeks, whilst Nathan White who got cited for the exact same offence in the same week only got 3? It's an utter joke. Nick Wood got 8 weeks for the same offence earlier on as well this season, why the complete disparity between bans and why do the Irish always get away with it?

Annoying in comparison to others' bans for the same offence and a big loss, but can only blame himself for the silly offence. One of the best things that would come out of the demise of the Irish led ERC and Pro12 is the disgusting bias that the Irish get in terms of these bans. How long do you think these two Irish internationals got for their stamps to the head?

To be fair they gave reasons of Evans past and the force behind his. Not saying it's right just what was said.

Also if they are of Flannery and Hayes.

Fla got 8 weeks. Had a better record than Evans too

Hayes got 6 due to him never ever been penalized never mind carded before that of any act of violence.

Both were banned but were first time offenders at time of hearing.

Evans has been in dock before and also it didn't help this was his 2nd red of the season. So when you add up all facts this can hardly be bias. Whites stamp was nowhere near same scale

Actually Flannery got 4 weeks, and that was a massive stamp. And I don't consider he who attempted to break Alexis Palisson's legs as a squeaky clean player either. Of going back a bit, Paul O'Connell got 0 weeks for a stamp to the head in the 2003 World Cup, Nathan White's 3 weeks should be much closer Evans' as well. The system is generous to certain teams (notably Munster) and I'm sick of it. Nick Wood had a good record before being cited, why is he banned for 5 more weeks than White?

Flannerys was upon appeal. The kick on Palisson was 2 years later so could hardly count against him at the time. Both he and Hayes were both squeaky clean records at the time. Maybe Evans will appeal and get reduced. I can't comment on Paul O'Connels as I can't remember off top of my head the incident and well I'd disagree regards Whites being of same level as Evans. But I'm not saying there's no bias but Evans deserved what he got and being honest he has to learn like 2 reds in 1 season and previous offences what would you have expected?

Regards POC just checked. The Namibian was illegally pulling maul down, O'Connell was in maul with his feet going in a maul and it was clear that was unintentional and nowhere near worthy of a yellow never mind a ban. But if you want to disagree fine

I can't recall a serious incident with a Evans since his ban in 2006, after his second cap. Yeah a red from two yellows, but not a nasty player. No cudmore or Poc (remember the blatant hit on JT?)

No but it's on his record and 2 yellows (I don't know reasons) this season making it a red vs Treviso is still a red but they do be taken in to account

There's no way White's was 3 weeks compared to all the others. I would accept an argument for less, but not 10 weeks less than Evans and 5 weeks less than Wood, both of whom didn't get lucky with a lenient ref not giving red as well.

If we are penalising people for past records. How come O'Connell got the benefit of the doubt (again) when he booted the living daylight of Dave Kearney?

I still remember him swiping out a Georgian player during the 2007 RWC game and not getting a card or anything, could have changed the game if Ireland were without their best forward. I would like to know POC's career ban record in weeks, he's one of the most leniently banned players in the history of the game.

Flannery, with priors, got a very lenient ban for his attack on Palisson.

I've never seen Adam Jones on the back-pedal personally. Anyone got anything to say about that ?

Important point this! Although it should be noted that psychic Duck determinedly uses 'That GIF' to prove how much better Adam Jones is than Dan Cole - somehow he gets away with it :p

well.....he is though ! And yes you can somewhat determine a TH is a better scrummager than another in one scrum action (or, say, a couple), the sort of impact he has on the outcome of the scrum. In Adam Jones' case, he's such a mastodon in the scrum one clearly sees he's more impactful than say Dan Cole, regardless of the LH work.

Considering both are tightheads ... No
Look more closely at duck's post. He was replying to a point I made about Phil John, not Samson Lee. He was disagreeing with my saying that Phil John should start for Wales. So I said that Phil John (who is a loosehead) pushed Adam Jones backwards.

Here's Phil John pushing Adam Jones backwards:

This wasn't an isolated case either. Scarlets had the upper hand in the scrum for the vast majority of two matches. Scarlets have had a good scrum all season in fact. Not bad for a 21 year old, and Phil John, a guy that seems not to be popular amongst the Welsh people on this board.
