2014 Six Nations: Wales

hey guys I wanna get my anti-Englishness out for a bit, it's been a while...
no need to reiterate how seething the atmosphere is going to be against Wales in Twickenham this year...but I was wondering: just how do you think England would react to the Welsh winning again this year ? My God, the atmosphere is going to be scary on that day in London...the English will want to annihilate Wales forever and ever and Wales obviously know that and will respond with (hopefully) adequate aggressiveness. This is going to be as intense as a World Cup Final...

..between ***ans and Gods of Olympus.

EDIT: now I read Tuilagi eyes a mid-Feb return to action. Good for him and England. So he's eying the last two games of the tournament, that is hosting Wales and the Rome match.

On another note. Where is dullonien? After endorsing Andy Howell's crap whinge about not sending the star names to a press conference was evidence of the regions incompetence, surely he will equally lay the boot into the WRU for ducking an open press conference in favour of giving the media the squad via email? Something which has escaped any reporting whatsoever from the paper edited by Roger Lewis' good friend Alan Edmunds. I wonder why?

Yeah OK. A slightly cowardly act. I would prefer if the Welsh team were left to concentrate on the 6 nations though. The players and coaches are innocent in this after all.

I'd be happy to see him thrown straight back in against us, chances are he'll be far from match fit and have a poor game as a result.

Yeh and that way u can say England lost even with their tuilagi

Roberts and Davies kept him pretty damn quiet last year. He did have a good game the year before, but Warbs and co kept tabs on him still. Bring him on I say!

Last year he dropped his best chance and his pack were mullered for the rest of it. You and me could have kept tabs on him last year.

So. Hibbard, Baldwin (Hibbard's likely replacement), Ryan, Yanto and Coombs all injured. The Scarlets haven't even played yet. The Curse of Round 6 returns.

Is Ken Owens expected to be fit in time for the beginning of the 6 nations? Emyr Phillips doesn't fill me with confidence, his lineout throwing can be very shaky on occasion, and he's a little lightweight as well. He was poor in Japan, with Baldwin being a big step-up.

If Hibbard is out, I'd guess it'd be between Dacey and Parry to be called up, with Myhill an outside bet.

Jake Ball should be the obvious player to be called into the second-row. Just as long as it isn't Lou Reed.

I wasn't impressed with Emyr in Japan, but to be fair, he has looked better for he Scarlets. Dacey is next in line for a call up, as is Ball (just like I said a month ago!). Allen for Jones.

Edit, James King, Jake ball, Sam parry called up.

Interesting call ups. Thought Dacey would get the nod over Parry. Good to see Ball given a run, be interesting to see how he goes.

Parry trained with Wales in June so perhaps that had something to do with it.

No doubt, not saying he hasn't merited it. But Dacey has shown glimpses this season of becoming another version of Hibbard.

Oh totally agree mate, I like Dacey, on the first page I had him as one of the players who should be involved.
We certainly are OK for hookers. Second rows, eights, and scrum halves would be next.

You are underestimating how ****e I am at tackling :p Fair point though! Still, the images that stick in my mind are that last ditch try saving Warburton tackle and Roberts dump tackling him...

Why do we always pick up key injuries in the Heineken Games?! Losing Ryan isn't the worst thing with King coming in to replace (do wish they'd look at a young 8 though), but definitely not so sure on Parry coming in for Hibbard!

Ball had a big game on Sunday did well in the lineout and put some big hits in in defence.

Kristian Dacey is injured, not due back until mid-February. Considering we have no idea how long Hibbard's out for, no worth calling him in to cover. All considered, the logical call-ups. Ball's been playing well, and is the kind of second row we could do with to complement Ianto, Charteris, etc. King is a very decent utility forward and a well-deserved selection, although it does leave Warburton as our second number eight, which is cause for a gulp if ever there was one.

Well there you have it then, thanks Dunc, must have missed it. Tbh I have not paid much attention to the regions/national side over the past few weeks.

Ian Evans 12 week ban. What a muppet.

Annoying in comparison to others' bans for the same offence and a big loss, but can only blame himself for the silly offence. One of the best things that would come out of the demise of the Irish led ERC and Pro12 is the disgusting bias that the Irish get in terms of these bans. How long do you think these two Irish internationals got for their stamps to the head?
