2014 QBE Internationals [EOYT] England

Do we have any injuries to backrowers?
Because if Seymour is still going to be overlooked then Lund really should be there, he's been outstanding so far this season.
Not saying he should be starting (though he is better than Wood - I'd have Haskell as starting 6) but he should at least be in the squad.

Think Paterson could be pressuring, with Slater and Parling out (Kitchener will undoubtedly take one of their spots, but Pato could come in as a lock/backrow replacement for Slater).

Seymour did look good for a academy player, would have Gibson ahead of him though he is the more experienced choice. ;)

Bath players haven't been doing themselves any favours the last 2 weeks. Astonishing form to start with but now they look like they don't know what they are doing. Better recover soon or they could play themselves out of a chance to be in the England squad.

Eastmond went off injured today, didn't he?
Any word on that?
Really don't want 36 starting (though he definitely will, and 50/50 he would if Kyle's fit).
Burrell and Joseph together could work.

More likely would be 36/Burrell.
Wouldn't be overly surprised to see Barritt/Burrell either.

Lund did decently when he was in the England team as a youngster years back, but just had the misfortune of timing his emergence during a bad period for the side.

Eastmond looked like he was clutching his rib - don't think it's broken or anything (it wasn't from an impact, possibly an oblique muscle tear or summat), I suspect (touch wood) that it's nothing serious.

Reckon that Lancaster would just see that as a step back and you will understand that I would always support him his being an ex Biarrot who gave his all for the shirt when he was able to play for us! But he is 31 and this is his eleventh season as a pro!!!

He's younger than Tom Johnson :p

Telegraph saying that Watson, Rokoguni, Yarde and May will be our wingers - there is one other winger named.... anyone care to guess who?!
I'll give you a hint... it isn't Jack Nowell!

Also according to them:

- JJ wasn't going to be picked, but now might be depending on whether Manu is fit or not
- BB and MT were the preferred partnership vs the AB's
- Kieran Longbottom was being seriously considered until he was injured (which is completely ****ing jokeshop)

Happy with those 4 wingers.......would be much happier if the 5th was Nowell.

I'll be furious if Farrell starts at 10 this autumn. He played 5 mins yesterday and 70 odd against london irish. He hasn't shown any form either and was poor against NZ and his stats were woeful.

It will be a kick in the teeth for Cipriani if he's played out of his skin and not even considered. Ford has been standout even if the pack is a flat track bully. He carries that side and makes Eastmond look good. He will be lucky to get the bench. I'll lose quite a bit of faith if he's pick as 10.

There's a serious chance the backline could be this:

10.Farrell
12.Barritt
13.Burrell

That would take the mick.

Why is barritt even being talked about? Players better at 12 then barritt right now:

Eastmond
Burrell
Hill
Allen
Mike tindall
Jamie noon
James Haskell
Any prop
Mike Catt

No Tuilagi now it seems on the BBC website, so frustrating.

So basically it's 2012 all over again?

So we've not improved at all in that period?

I don't get the Barritt hate that much. He does have some very good traits. What I didn't like was the Farrell-Barritt-Tuilagi axis. All are fairly good players, all are a bit too limited to make the combination work. I feel Ford-Barritt-Joseph would be a lot better balanced.

Our squad back in the 2012 Six Nations:

Props: Corbs, Marler, Cole, Stevens, Wilson
Hookers: Hartley, Mears, Webber
Locks: Botha, Lawes, Palmer
Back row: Clark, Croft, Robshaw, Wood, Dowson, Morgan
Scrum-halves: Dickson, Youngs, Simpson
Fly-halves: Flood, Hodgson, Farrell
Centres: Barritt, Tuilagi, Turner-Hall
Back three: Ashton, Sharples, Strettle, Foden, Brown

So yeah, I think we have improved a lot. :p Especially in the pack. We used to play MoBo and Dowson!

Other than in the centres and maybe hooker, I think England are in a good place.

I agree on the negativity about Barritt - he wouldn't necessarily be my first choice (definitely not if Farrell and Manu are playing) but there are potentially partnerships where he has a role.

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...duguni-prepares-for-england-call-9804371.html

Independent listing Nowell as a contender - Roko, Watson, May, Nowell and Yarde would probably be the best set of wingers England have had for a very, very long time.

I've no issues with Barritt.

Think he's one of the best centres defensively going. What I have an issue with is picking 2 limited players technically next to him. It just intensifies the issue.

Maybe Barritt is in with a shout because Lancaster is going to pick Ford.

Maybe..? No..? Well, I don't think it's that unreasonable...
