he used to be a flyhalf didn't he? IIRC he only moved to 15 when linking up with WASPS.
I'd be happy with him at either 12 or 13 for WASPS - 13 is probably the better position with that amount of pace (and i did say originally 12 or 13).
Those arcing runs that Patchey mentions are beuatiful - he reminds me very much of Cipriani at 15 in how he just drifts on the line.
The issue for me though is in just saying "bad positioning" we paper over a lot of cracks. Defending at 15 is about 2 things - positioning and timing. Positioning gets you there - and he gets there so it's not a positioning issue it's his timing - and i think a lot of it comes down to confidence. You can see him come off the gas because he doesn't want to get stepped, and show gear the outside with the intention of closing him down with his pace.
Really with that kind of shut down he needs to be in a position where he's pushing the attacker to the touch line, he should be off the gas earlier, continually changing his speed so that when he makes contact he's actually accelerating - and it needs to be torso on torso not hands on shorts.
yes that can be worked on.
now, to put the cat among the pigeons, has anyone thought about playing him at right wing ala Willie le roux last season? letting him roam freely unlike a fullback he's a lot more constrained in leaving his position in attack? Can you imagine a back three of Daley, Brown and Yarde, with Daley just roaming around coming in where ever he wants?
