[2014 Mid-Year Test] South Africa vs Wales (2nd Test)

We are sorted at fly half... We have Ruan Pienaar and Willie Le Roux that can slot in there... But we are a bit low in stock at centre

I am not looking at this game as much as at the future. We will play Le Roux at 15 if he is fit. Pienaar should not be near the squad to start with. Between Serfontein, JdV, De Allende, JF, JdJ and Engelbrecht if he can get good we don't need more centers.

Still would have preferred to see Boshoff given a go, he is in the group and train with the Boks.

Our future is in the final of the JWC and nominated for Player of the tournament...

Fair enough but would it really hurt to have options who have test experience (even if only 2/3 caps) beyond the ever-injured Goosen and Lambie? Boshoff is a perfect fit for the Bokke IMO. Him, Steyn and Pollard suit our game to a tee with Goosen able but never avaiable. Lambie and Pienaar have both had enough chances in the halves and failed to make mustard IMO.

Jannie again starting. Why am I not surprised? Ridiculous! I am happy with the other 22 names though.

true, and I'm a big fan of Boshoff (apart from the fact that he played against my brother in High School and caused my brother to get a red card for retaliation). I think he will fit in nicely, but maybe HM made a judgement call in keeping the experienced guys in the team where we are a bit thinned out...

All I know is that HM is getting something right and our game is evolving into a very potent weapon. I'm just a bit over the whole "why not pick him over him" debate. It's getting tiresome.

Then why the hell visit a rugby forum so regularly!! LOL

WALES SQUAD TO PLAY SOUTH AFRICA:
Liam Williams, Alex Cuthbert , Jonathan Davies, Jamie Roberts, George North, Dan Biggar, Mike Phillips, Gethin Jenkins , Ken Owens , Samson Lee , Luke Charteris , Alun Wyn Jones (Capt), Dan Lydiate, Josh Turnbull, Taulupe Faletau .

Replacements: Matthew Rees, Paul James, Aaron Jarvis, Jake Ball, Dan Baker, Gareth Davies, James Hook, Matthew Morgan.

Gareth Davies should be starting, and another centre should be on the bench imo. Pretty much the entire backline is covered by Hook and Morgan, but why not get a look at someone like Allen against one of the big teams?

Thinking of it - "Gatland" translated form Afrikaans to English means "Assland"
Guess he'll be seeing it again come Saturday

if that is true then i'd reckon scotland could have a big chance off an upset even though we do have players going back to the top 14 eg Richie Gray, Johnnie Beattie etc.

dude, I don't mean to be a gigantic rectum, but unless so many players leave that South Africa don't even have a full team to field and play with 12 guys, I can't quite see it. But then again all things are a question of perspective. Spiderman is really Batman, if you look at it through the right scope. Or cheese smells like astronauts, with the right perspectives. es.

This is one of the funniest thing I've ever read ! SA would beat Scotland with 12 players anyway . Haha

****e side. Funny how Gatland's favourites will all be at Racing next year. They are also the most one dimensional in the side.
You wait, Wales will keep it closer 20-12 or something, and Gatland will say they showed good improvement and are on the right track.

Shingler was far from the worst in the team, for the record.

I don't think it will be close . Samson Lee is in for a baptism of fire against a rested Beast . The backs were poor last week and I can't believe Gareth Davies isn't playing tbh . Liam Williams position was nothing short of bloody awful last week too anyone who says halfpenny only kicks points should bear that in mind . I think the score line will be the same again

Makes sense to rest Adam Jones - he looks f***ed after a long old season, and not being the most athletic to begin with. No point sending him out to get ruined by the Boks pack.

Why is Jenkins starting again? Will James ever get a start when Jenkins is fit?

Yeah, you are probably right. Just thinking of the spin.
Jones and Jenkins are done, and quite a few said this 18 months ago.
Jenkins could have a leg missing and he'd start over Paul James. James has been a rock for Bath, for the most part. Gethin has been collecting cards like it's his birthday. See, if they didn't **** about with Rhodri, they'd have a huge, powerful Loosehead ready, developing from 2012-2015. Williams was shown to be what everybody outside Carmarthen said.

Charteris is back to 2010 form. Lydiate has been shown to be limited, and easily countered. Toby is an excellent player, and has been forced to carry the entire backrow. I wish we had a big carrying 8 alongside him. Baker is a passenger in defence, and we havent produced an 8 from the U20s in years. Ben Thomas of 2011 wasn't bad, but never had a chance with the Os. Ieuan Jones was a decent prospect for the NGD, but not sure if he'd crack it at international level. Benjamin is an openside.
