2014 Canadian Rugby Championship and General Canadian Rugby Chat.

HUGE 29-26 win for the Wolf Pack today but unfortunately they didn't get the BP and allowed Ontario to get the LBP. Still beating Ontario IN Ontario is impressive and I'm proud of the season the Wolf Pack had. Another big kicking day by McRorie with 5 penalties and 2 conversions. I am rather annoyed they chose not to live stream this game and I hope it winds up online really fast. I NEED to watch it. Now to hope for a miracle and that The Rock can SOMEHOW sneak out a win at home against the Blues next weekend.

And The Rock suffered a close 26-20 defeat to the Bears. That may be a good thing as they'll be gunning hard for the Blues next week to avoid going winless this year but I still would bet on the Blues to win and take the MacTier cup from our grasp.

I think it's about 50/50 for the Blues, they know what they need to do but anything can happen when you effectively need four tries. Pack fans should start up their rain dances and hope for poor conditions that alone could change things. Rock have looked a little better the last two games as well at least offering some resistance and showing some heart.

Edit: Heard McRorie was exceptional today, and just as ticked as you were it wasn;t streamed, I do know it was taped so hopefully it will be up soon.

I'm doing my Atlantic storm dance all week in hopes that rain turns Swilers Rugby Park into a mud pit of despair. I do feel bad since I got a buddy out in Newfieland but sacrifices must be made.

In other news, the club season is almost done here in Alberta which really has me bummed out. With the lack of rugby on TV I'll go crazy. I mean ya there's streams but it's not the same. Anyways next weekend are the city finals(Divs 1,2 and 3) in Edmonton and Calgary with the Provincials being hosted the following weekend in Calgary(it changes every year between the two).

All the Blues have to do is win in NFLD, apparently the tie breaker is head to head points differential.

Well that throws a kink into things, upping my Blues Mactier chance to 90% than, Rock will have to do something special to break the Duck of their season.

Yeah, it is hard to see how the Blues will not win it. Funnily enough, I can see a tie in the Blues-Rock game before I can see a Rock victory!

He has. It will be very interesting to see what the Ospreys do when Hassler, Walker, and Dirksen are available. For me, it is between Walker and Dirksen to partner Hassler.

Fine then, ignore the re-signing of the great Ardron.

What you talking about?

Ardron signing on for three more years is great news. Ospreys are a talented side and a good place for him to be right now. Hopefully he can get some more playing time. And hopefully Hassler signs up long term as he's clearly a starter with Ospreys and an integral part of their future. Though I wonder if France or England might come knocking. He's one of the best T2 backs in the world and he's still rather young.

^ Also Canada finally has a new 7s coach. Some guy named Liam Middleton from Zimbabwe. Geraint John left some big shoes to fill after last season so I hope Middleton is up to the task. He's definitely got a rough go for his first assignment which is Gold Coast 7's. England, Argentina and even USA can all beat Canada on their best days so Middleton and the Canada boys have a lot of work to do.

Edit:
Canada's Men's Centralization List:
Admir Cejvanovic (Burnaby Lake RFC/BC Bears) Vancouver, BC
Nanyak Dala (Castaway Wanderers/Prairie Wolf Pack) Regina, SK
Justin Douglas (Abbotsford RFC) Abbotsford, BC
Sean Duke (UVIC Vikes/BC Bears) Vancouver, BC
Mike Fuailefau (Castaway Wanderers/BC Bears) Victoria, BC
Lucas Hammond (Toronto Nomads/Ontario Blues) Toronto, ON
Ciaran Hearn (Castaway Wanderers/Atlantic Rock) Conception Bay South, NL
Nathan Hirayama (UVIC Vikes/BC Bears) Richmond, BC
Harry Jones (Capilano RFC/BC Bears) Vancouver, BC
Pat Kay (UVIC Vikes/BC Bears) Duncan, BC
Phil Mack (James Bay AA/BC Bears) Victoria, BC
John Moonlight (James Bay AA/Ontario Blues) Pickering, ON
Matt Mullins (Belleville Bulldogs/Queens University) Belleville, ON
Pat Parfrey (Swilers RFC/Atlantick Rock) St. John's, NL
Jack Smith (James Bay AA/Ontario Blues) Lakefield, ON
Mike Scholz (Castaway Wanderers/Ontario Blues) Oakville, ON
Conor Trainor (UBCOB Ravens/BC Bears) Vancouver, BC
Sean White (James Bay AA/BC Bears) Victoria, BC
Adam Zaruba (Capilano RFC/BC Bears) Vancouver, BC

That's a pretty solid list of guys and they could make a pretty good team. Kinda wish we had some of them for Canada A. I'm gonna guess Dala, Cejvanovic, Moonlight, Mack, Trainor, Hearn, Hirayama, Scholz, White, Kay, Fuailefau and Hammond make the Gold Coast cut but I would definitely not place money on it hahaha.

Middleton has held a few positions in rugby both with Zimbabwe nationally and RFU clubs, not a terrible choice at our budget range but not sure he's Geraint John standards.

Looks like Rock vs. Blues will be streamed which is great news.

I was taking the ****, on you guys, about Ardron. I had posted that information a couple of days ago and only one of the Mods had commented on it.

I thought I had for some reason but it must have been on PM that I disscussed it with a member. Wonder if Hassler is looking to re-up there or try and get into the Aviva or Top 14.

Heard that Panga, McRorie, Gilmour, Smith, Blevins,Olmstead and Dala are all going to the ARC.

I'll fire up the ARC thread tommorow. Good news for those guys, all solid players and in the full national team picture. Pile of Blues likely going as well, I'd say Barkwill, Dolezel, Wooldridge, Wilson-Ross are very likely. Pearson and Moor might make it as well. Not sure how many Rock players, can only think of Parfrey really, Walsh has played well enough but doubt they'll bring a 40 year old guy in unless they are desperate for warm bodies.

I think the Argies might have already nominated their side, I'll look for it when I fire up that thread.

The lack of Graham Turner would make my heart weep. He was the best back we had after Gordie. He definitely deserves to rep Canada A more than Blevins, even though Wing is more competitive position than Center. Kyne should also be going after the season he had. I know he's "old" but Kyne, Gilmour and Panga were a great Backrow. And Dala is in the Canada 7s camp I thought? I mean I'd take him on Canada A in a heart beat so I wouldn't complain. Other than all that the list of potential Wolf Pack players is what I expected. James Smith, Olmstead, Gilmour, Panga and McRorie were all pretty awesome, especially Gordie. I figured Blevins would get in as well simply because he's been playing for Canada recently even though he's been unimpressive on the International level.
