2013 British and Irish Lions

Given that players have been called up for the Lions before receiving a senior international cap that's a fairly poor argument imo.
.

Totally different, it's one thing being a player with enough raw talent and potential being selected but a seperate one selecting a injury prone, over the hill one trick pony who is only being mentioned by dewey-eyed simpletons who still think/wish it was 10 years ago.

I 'll rephrase my initial point, if Wilko tours I'LL riot

Judging from everything I've heard re his performances for Toulon, you must be thinking of someone else.

edit: Even if it is true, he'd still have a good shot the Lions as things stand.

Whatever happened to the debate of "club form is nothing as the intensity or skill of test rugby isn't there".

(which for the record, I still believe is a load of old ********).

Not really in love with the thought of Wilkinson touring, its a bit like Jenkins in 2001. But there isnt much out there at the minute and I think its normally 3 fly halfs that go so apart from Sexton and possilby Farrell the barrel is a bit empty. So why not have a veteran 10 pulling the strings in the midweek team? its not like he couldnt play in the test team if needed.

The Heineken Cup?

Farrell, Rowntree and Howley all assistant coaches.

Rowntree is a no brainer, one of the best forwards coaches around.

Farrell and Howley is a no brainer, as in you must have no brain to appoint them.
Then again, England's defence has been decent under Farrell - better than Wales and London Irish, under Edwards (recently) anyway.

So the Joe Schmidt rumours of him helping out with the backs proved to be untrue.

A shame from the Lions point of view as he could have offered more than the Howley style of attack which operates with Wales which is too predictable, and scored just 3 tries during the Autumn Internationals, one of which was an intercept and one of which was a 13 man maul.

Erm... That is a Declan Kidney line* which pretty much everyone in Ireland outside of Gerry Thornley knows is complete bullsh!t.

*to justify him selecting old boys that are out of form like Donnacha O'Callagahan

Rowntree is outstanding, my concern is Howley. Who is dire. Farrell will do the business.

Heard Leinster weren't willing to allow him to leave.

For me I think not taking Edwards as a coach is a mistake, Edwards is a good coach and is obviously a good motivator. Something that Howley lacks.

I've heard Farrell does a lot of the motivational talking in the England dressing room.

Basically, the real issue is the lack of someone who can make a backline look effective.

Was never going to be on when he signed a new contract in the summer. Shame too, both Leinster and Clermont before them have had some excellent back play with him in charge.

Howey is pretty naff, but who actually has an effective back coach these days?

Not many.

Heard on the grapevine that Edwards may well be used in a part time role and that there are others also in the frame for part-time roles to help aid the Lions.

Backs coach for Ulster? If there is one mind.
