USA news & politics

Unsurprisingly written off as a joke but it’s kind of like a murderer joking about murdering people. It kinda hits different.

This at the end is worth taking note

“When asked about a recent Reuters/Ipsospoll that revealed only 17 percent of Americans support his push to acquire the territory, Trump called the survey “fake,” according to the outlet.”

Since when is almost 1 fifth of Americans classed as “only” I actually thought it’d be more around 30%. Either stat is worrying. There should be no more than a couple percent of weirdos that think America invading Greenland is a good idea but this is where we are.

Why am I not surprised...
Probably because we all saw it a mile off - and already know that the reason they're pushing Minneapolis so hard is to get a fight back, and an excuse to use the insurrection act (and cancel elections).

For me, the only surprise is that he's going for it ahead of the 2026 mid-terms, not the 2028 general.
I can only think it's a first step on the process

The Insirrection Act wouldnt cancel elections though would it? infact the idea of it is to restore order, so if anything having military on the ground would help Minnesotas election stability.

Dont they still have issues with their 'Drivers license for all' scheme and having non citizens voting, and then the vouching system?

Given there is a very real possibility his current tariffs could be ruled unconstitutional and overturned, threatening more is particularly ridiculous.

It also further undermines his argument that his tariffs are for emergency, he uses everything as an excuse to threaten it.

Trump only operates in one mode, make threats unless you do what he says.

Europe and the UK don't have any options here, they need to stand up to Trump. They cannot be bullied into forcing Greenland to join the USA.

Something, something engage diplomacy. Something, something we will work with the President in addressing his concerns.

I doubt we do much else. The other European countries not included in the tariffs will be wary of causing a fuss.
