Warfare (gone up on Amazon Prime now)

It's A24, so you know it's going to be well made, with Alex Garland writing/adapting the story (it's a "true" story - in as much as it's based on the stories of the soldiers who were there, but I remember reading about it in the past where they made it clear that it's just their memories so won't be 100% how it went down, and obviously just one side of it - just as close as they could get it)

Good film, very tense, very raw - it's almost all told in real time (90ish min film, 80ish mins of it shown in real time)

Cast is really good, too - funny that it's all American soldiers but almost all are played by Brits, they must've seen how good Band of Brothers was

I really liked it. Watched it once in cinema and then again as soon as it came out on Amazon Prime.

Saw a lot of people bashing it for being propaganda but I felt it was a pretty brutally honest retelling of what happened (they openly show how they pretty much used the Iraqi soldiers as bait which isn’t at all noble or heroic).

Very well acted across the board.

Jealous, bet that was insane - sound was incredible just through my soundbar/subwoofer, can't imagine what it was like in the cinema

Yeah, I remember seeing a lot of that online when it was first released but have no idea how people could possibly see it as that - can only assume they didn't actually watch it, or are just blinded by preconceptions

Ive only heard good things about it, got a pretty limited cinema release so missed it. This is why Im off Facebook/Twitter too many people with a hot take about movies and usually they are terrible by people who've clearly not seen it/anything.

Saw The Naked Gun tonight.

Best movie of 2025
Just saw it.....you need to watch a lot more movies. It was fine about in par with the originals which are also just fine. But titans of cinema or comedy they are not.

(Opinion maybe discoloured by the fact I watched Shawshank on cinema screen right before it)

Alien: Earth streaming series got 'must-watch' sticker on Metacritic. Could be time for me to watch the 7 Alien movies in release order and then this show. Seen the first 4 movies with Sigourney Weaver but it wasn't in order and it was way back when you'd rent videos, DVDs or watch on TV with ad breaks.

Aliens (number 2) is the only one worth watching again
