1st test - Australia v British & Irish Lions

I honestly don't give that much of a **** to be honest. Even if he started it's embarrassing we only have 1 in the side so there being none is a much of muchness to me.

You're fighting the good fight though, mate.
4 years from now and you'll have loads more. Irony is they'll mostly be the names in the current Welsh team

So re watched the game, put it through some software...

Curry had 6 positive contributions, 8 neutral and 7 negative meaningfully.

4 of the 7 negative came between 48 and 56 mins 2 pens and 2 missed tackles, in a period he fell off a cliff. First half he had 5 pos, 7 neutral and 1 negative.

This is on par with his previous performance, except for the glaring obvious, if your 7 can't make 60 he shouldn't have started.

I dont think Farrell was vindicated, infact i think Lions struggles last 20 were partly down to Curry's collapse, Kelleher being dreadful, and Mccarthys early injury

I'd check your software. Curry was magnificent. His impact at the breakdown, slowing down the Aussie ball, was instrumental in allowing the Lions defence to dominate in the first half, and early second half. It's not a coincidence that the "Aussie comeback", when late scores put a flattering look to the scoreboard, came after Curry left the field.

The coping from Welsh fans is far more satisfying than the win against Australia.

Except i havnt seen a Welsh fan complain about Morgan not being selected, just genuine criticism of the worst performing back row on tour being selected, an openside who's injured.

Show me where im wrong?

Which software did you use?

We're his 2 penalties and 2 missed tackles, and the fact he couldn't get off the floor quick enough to reload in that 8 minute period the qualities the lions lacked? Hahaha

Look i like him, but Curry is at about 80% of what he's capable of, the stats, and the performances on tour all show the same thing.

how often do opensides get replaced in international rugby before the 60 minute mark without injury? Very rarely. Even in a tour like the lions, the only reasons short of wrapping a player in cotton wool for the next game (absolutely may be the case) its because their physical stats are dropping.

I'd accept that Curry was being managed, but to do so after 4 pretty big errors and him struggling to get off the floor quickly enough, youd have to consider he just isnt as fit as he'd want to be.

Given he was very lucky not to be carded, and next weeks ref Piardi is a card magnet, it wouldnt surprise me to see him not starting.

I also think 1st half, the reasons Lions didnt score the points was a back row issue, not securing ball fast enough. Beirne and Conan are part of that, but ball security has been a problem all tour, probably due to the intricate style Farrell wants them to play

Post 888 on this very thread.

Also open pretty much any BBC article or facebook page on the Lions and there is a whole contingent of complaints from Morgan not starting.

You need to get that software over to espn and rugby pass.

They have Curry as one missed tackle and Curry with most dominant tackles. Actually send it to everyone they've all massively over rated Curry in the player ratings.

You might as well say if you are on the bench and can't do more than twenty you shouldn't be on the bench

I was going to say who cares we won. That's what matters, right?

Oh no, that's silly of me, people still discredit the 2013 win (against a far better Australia team) to this day so if Farrell wins 3-0 I'll do the same.

Awesome, the Rugby Pass who posted the lineup and had Tuipilotu at 13 and Jones at 12... that bastion of rugby knowledge hahaha

These guys can have whatever stats they want, its meaningless unless you very, but please, highlight these dominant tackles, in only remmeber 1 solo, and 1 combined.

Like I said, im not slating Curry, your hysteria can calm, everyone relax, wipe the tears from your eyes and just accept he went into the tour with poor form, he wasnt good against Leicester, and has been the lowest performing back rower on tour, which byw was a universal talking point on this board until announcement of test 1 lineup lol.

Hos form in test 1 was along the same lines, he was OK, decent first half but really fell off a cliff from 50 mins. I mean he was subbed while struggling before the 60th minute, that's down to his performance 2nd half IMO, and in fact if im not wrong I called that he needed to be subbed about 90 seconds before he was.

He then spent his time on the bench rubbing his sore, heavily bandaged wrist.

I personally would've gone with VDF test 1, Keefe didnt allow much contest on the floor in the warm up match, however due to the Lions back row being poor over the ball going forward Aus managed to disrupt and steal a lot.
I'd go with Morgan test 2, Piardi would have almost certainly yellow carded Curry for the in the air tackle, or even the offside in his own 22 when under pressure. I think Morgan is less a yellow threat, and his engine is much bigger currently.
