Ok so...

1 Baxter
2 George
3 Heyes
4 Coles
5 Arthur
6 Curry
7 Pollock
8 Tom Willis

9 JVP
10 Fin Smith
11 OHC
12 Dingwall
13 Daly
14 Roebuck
15 Furbank

16 Dan
17 Rodd
18 Fordjour
19 T. Hill
20 CCS
21 Quirke
22 Atkinson
23 Beard

Not sure about Quirke, Randall is probably still above him based on gametime alone. I doubt Ford is on the plane and even Marcus is a doubt after Sexton got the gig - he's "too flashy" apparently. I reckon Lawrence will miss out as well, Jones, Ringrose, Henshaw and maybe even Tompkins have his place sewn up between them, so they can all potentially be available

I just think Ford is still a class act, and old experienced head, who could absolutely thrive in Oz with a strong Lions side around him. Marcus is the x factor i dont think many teams have, Farrell would be mad not to take someone like him...who can now cover 10 and 15 aswell.

Maybe, but Randall barely played in the 6N and Quirke was on the bench ahead of him for round 1 before injury

Realistically Quirke shouldn't be in the mix, I'm just guessing based on what England have done before

Same here, I just don't see Quirke getting a chance when he can barely buy a start for Sale. Probably makes the wider squad easily but JvP/Randall would be my bet for the tests

It's been said elsewhere but worth saying again, Ford has been grotesquely overlooked for the Lions. I really hope he goes but I just can't see it happening now that age is against him

Agree on Ford. Lions is about experience and the here and now, not development or a RWC cycle.

Had previously thought the same on Marcus, but he's not starting tests in either shirt and if he travels probably no more than 3rd choice at best for either. In some respects the nearest proxy to Russell, but I guess the question is whether Farrell sees him as a viable bench option. AFAIK he's not been stellar for Quins recently which won't have helped. Had him nailed on as a tourist at the start of the season but much less certain now.

Our 6N flankers were Earl and Twindaloo. So effectively 2 open sides all the way.

If that's long-term plan A it would make sense to mirror with Burry and Pollock in whatever shirts.
I dont think Borthwick has a long term plan. He just makes it up as he goes along. He just picked Ben Curry because he was playing well for Sale, not that he suited any strategy.

I'm still waiting to see the Lions selections. My worry is he'll go as strong as possible still and if we have a few lions we'll have less players given chances.
