Your team's greatest XV - from the Heineken Cup era / Super Rugby era

a good Northampton team, wasn't Pagel a loosehead and Rodber a lock though?

I'd perhaps have Thompson for Mendez, Blowers would be in there and Lobbe as one of the locks

otherwise the team that could challenge the Munster team the closest

15. Girvan Dempsey
14. Shane Horgan
13. Brian O'Driscoll
12. Gordon D'arcy
11. Denis Hickie
10. Jonny Sexton/Felipe Contepomi
9. Chris Whitaker
1. Reggie Corrigan
2. Shane Byrne
3. Stan Wright
4. Leo Cullen
5. Malcolm O'Kelly
6. Rocky Elsom

I considered Blowers, but tbh as good as he was he wouldn't unseat any of them.

Rodber finished his days at lock, but the bulk was blindside and number 8 (Buck Shelfords understudy, no less).

Pagel played both sides.

Lobbe was well past his prime by the time he arrived.

Garry Pagel could play both sides.

Rodber could play number eight, flanker or lock and was equally as good at any one of those.

my changes to your Leinster team would be

Nacewa (quality in every position in the backs) <> Horgan
le Roux maybe or Healy <> Corrigan (the most mobile player ever ... not)
Wallace <> Wright

do you think that would beat the Munster XV?
Yes but it'd be close. You have to remember some of that Leinster team have retired by now!

did Russell/Luger play long enough to be considered? compared to Haughton or Constable

wasn't Diprose good for a while?

I thought Chris Jack was rubbish when he came over to the UK

perhaps Grewcock or Scott Murray would be better options at lock

i know you're going through criticising everyone's selections, but this really isn't a serious topic. yes chris jack wasn't great for us, but i could have gone ahead and made a team full of servants like kevin sorrell, hugh vyvyan, jackson etc who've given their ******** for the club. Instead i picked the biggest names. Doesn't really matter, does it?

my Ospreys XV
15. Lee Byrne
14. Tommy Bowe
13. Andrew Bishop
12. Gavin Henson
11. Shane Williams
10. James Hook
9. Justin Marshall
1.Paul James
2. Barry Williams
3. Adam Jones
4. Ian Gough
5. Alun-Wyn Jones
6. Jerry Collins
7. Marty Holah
8. Filo Tiatia

You have forgotten some of the players that played for the two clubs that created the Ospreys, to which their history is apart of the Ospreys even when they merged.

Scott Gibbs
Colin Charvis (Granted Dragons could lay claim)
Mark Taylor
Kevin Morgan (Again the same)
Garin Jenkins
Rob Appleyard
Allan Bateman
Arwel Thomas (Better than Biggar)

Largely the team in the first post, but I don't actually remember Barry Williams playing so haven't included him (I was aware of him, but don't recall him... doing anything.) and had to choose Hibbard because Huw Bennett was really the only other option. Byrne and Parker are in for their form from years gone by rather than right now. Parker would just about make the Ospreys second XV nowadays, let alone an all-time side. I've got a feeling there's another player who could have come in at centre, but I just can't picture who. Possibly Tommy.

15. Lee Byrne
14. Tommy Bowe
13. Sonny Parker
12. Gavin Henson
11. Shane Williams
10. James Hook
9. Justin Marshall
1. Duncan Jones
2. Richard Hibbard
3. Adam Jones
4. Ian Gough
5. Alun-Wyn Jones
6. Jerry Collins/An in-form Ryan Jones
7. Marty Holah
8. Filo Tiatia

Just read the post a few above... Gibbs, Bateman, et al would probably all replace Parker.

The Ospreys are the only true region which felt like a completely new team which is why I only selected players since 2003, only Scott Gibbs and Garin Jenkins and maybe Bateman would get in my team from that list anyway,

Newport Gwent Dragons = Newport
Cardiff Blues = Cardiff
Scarlets = Llanelli

you got that right

Thanks for pointing that out, was unsure.

My point was that whilst all the other teams were just the club teams

the Ospreys were the only ones starting out from scratch and so I therefore selected players from 2003 onwards

At that time the Celtic Warriors also started from scratch until they got disbanded.

Bath

1. Dave Hilton
2. Jonathan Humphreys (numerous candidates with Mears, Regan, Mendez)
3. Duncan Bell
4. Nigel Redman
5. Danny Grewcock
6. Ben Clarke
7. Julian Salvi
8. Dan Lyle

9. Michael Claassens
10. Butch James
11. Matt Banahan
12. Mike Catt
14. Jeremy Guscott
15. Iuen Evans
16. Matt Perry

hard to leave out Callard (his best years where before the HC though) and players who have been great servants to the club like Zak Feaunati and David Barnes

openside was a tough one with many different candidates. Lipman had probally the longest and most consistent run in the shirt and a former captain. However i refuse to pick him for obvious reasons.

Testament to the impact Salvi had in his 1 season (though hopefully he adds to this in the future)

1 Rowntree
2 West
3 Castro
4 Johnson
5 Kay
6 Moody
7 Back
8 Corry
9 Healey
10 Flood
11 Hamilton
12 Howard
13 Hipkiss
14 Murphy
15 Stimpson

Edit - I was too young to pay attention to who was good, or what was going on. Was Rory Underwood still playing then?
