Any chance this has to do with Mitchell being named the new coach?

As far as I know he's 32 so at the time of next RWC he will be 36 so he might be too old. Also these are his last years as a pro player and maybe he wants to focus more on his club.

Why do you think it may have something to do with Mitchell?

I've heard mixed reviews on Mitchell's coaching style and that he promotes a negative atmosphere. I don't know him and I haven't experienced any of it. It's just what I've read.

I actually figured this has a lot to do with wanting to be in form for the 7's once he is able to start training for the Olympics. I don't think I'm alone in hoping that American success in the Olympic 7's will generate interest in the 15 man game here stateside. He's probably feeling a lot of pressure to help realize that goal.
