World League Brainstorming thread

well its always worth to check man. maybe somewhere you did a error or accidently typed something like a # somewhere loose.
 
I found this. It gives the player swaps for the teams starting in the original World League. I am thinking we have to change this, but so far i cannot see any connection with the 'old player > new player'. It seems to be the starting 15 and with the swaps makes 30, which is a squad.. but that does not fix the other teams.. so there must be something for the others perhaps.

Until i try it.. this file is just a text file but seems to have every player in the game and their stats for no reason.. so perhaps this works with the rdf.

I don't know if you have figured out so far about the old and new player thing but as far as I understand the old player is the one in the current team and gets swapped out with the new player that is one of those useless players like P.Chupin.

In the Rugby 06 editor the error is fixed ?, so if it works in 06 you could compare the two editors and find the bug, or use the 06 editor modified to be used in 08 ,since both games are practically the same thing ,or the rosters are very different?
 
If you don t want one modified squad in the beginnig of the world league you just erase all sentences with swap

here you change the date with START MONTH= 2 et star day=27 you begin the world league with transferts windows open but i believe is not always the same date in all division for the beginning

As i understand, this only works for the starting 15 players of the teams you select as the bottom division?

I am puzzled why there is a text file of the entire roster, stats and all. It even tells you what SS skills they have.. which might be the 'star' attributess.
 
If I remember correctly a few months ago I got the WL to work with the new edited players in their different teams with correct names ect.

After that Woosaah updated his editor I think,since then this "bug" of the world league started, I'm not saying it is so but maybe the coding of the editor isn't as it was before he updated...maybe the editor isn't saving the rdf file correctly...?

If it is the editor hopefully Woosaah or KingWilko can fix it
 
I think that we did not have this problem before with 06 editor. I am sure it is to do with the rdf created from woosaah's 08 editor, as i said if you open it up in hex, the names are updated but somehow it does not read properly with the game, and this might be caused by some kind of checksum value type thing because of the crash you get. The file is corrupted and therefore is rejected.

But, knowing EA they might have cocked-up elsewhere and there isn't a problem with woosaah's rdf but lays with something else.

I'm just puzzled why EA would put the roster in the text file.. maybe it was for their reference.. it even tells you which face id is assigned to which player.
 
Iv been playing the ERC league with the MUP and all the rosters are fine, as in they are the roster which the game was shipped with (and all the awful spelling mistakes etc). Even the transfer market has real players and no fake ones like S.Duncan etc

So its just trying to reconfig the rosters into the custom one's and get it too work.
 
Also it seems the MUP version does have a critical bug in it where the game crashes once you'v won your last match and thus gaining promotion.

Okay I think I made somewhat of a discovery...

Went thru my hard drive and saw I still had one of Woosaah's 1st Rugasmic 08 Editor,the one without the face preview thing...loaded the default roster in it and clicked set as default to generate the rdf file,loaded the game and could start WL normaly with the wrong named player no problem...

Then I installed the latest version of Woosaah's Rugasmic 08 Editor and loaded the same default roster in it,clicked set as default to generate the rdf file,started the game but strangly enough I could not start a new WL without the game crashing :unsure: .

So the only thing I can think of that is creating this "bug" is Woosaah's Rugasmic 08 Editor...maybe during one of his updates on the editor something changed...?

Please Woosaah if you are reading this we really need your help!IF you get time next year could you just check if you don't see anything wrong with the coding or something please?Would be greatly appreciated :cheers:

It's not so much of bug, rather as Kingwilko found it is a corrupted string. I imagine this is the same problem causing the rdf error.

So this WL problem would be fixable then Fa'atau82?Have you spoken to Kingwilko about this WL problem yet?
 
All i know Ross is that Woosaah's editor had some new bugs in it's last release, and that kingwilko made a program(s) that seemed to avoid this by using an uncorrupted file. For example, if you try and edit set-moves in the editor, it reverts all the home stadiums to an Australian one. Kingwilko's teamfixer program works, no bug.

I expect the process is very complicated for rdf and it would be very easy to make a 'bug' and not even know about it.
 
and what name file was that of all the stats?.

Faatau says: get rugbygob from EARSC it's on the front page. Also, the .pro file. You want the 'roster/squad info' file, which is a text file. I don't think it has anything to do with the game, apart from that if you notice it has the correct names so i think they used this as their reference. I am using the face ids to ID them in kingwilkos editor.

The most up to date roster and rdf I know of that would enable you to play the WL and challange mode with updated teams is ozzy's roster update
