I notice that MS have completely skipped over "Windows 9".

I wonder if that is an effort to distance themselves from the utter train-wreck that was Windows 8?

Apparently it's because Windows RT is basically a separate operating system so it counts as the ninth. Not that the numbers match up with the iterations anyways.

I've also heard it's basic programming issue from windows 9x days which I fully belive knowing the kind of issue they can bring.

I have had absolutely no problems with 8.1?!!

Probably but us programmers are lazy ducks would not be surprised with the amount of code lurking around that says if version == 9* or something of that ilk.

The underlying OS is great in fact I believe 10 is virtually the same. The UI is a piece of **** from an interaction design POV as it only really caters towards touchscreens even though the majority of users don't have them.

I upgraded to Windows 10 today but finding that my laptop is surprisingly slow. Also my 'Settings' does not want to open.

Anyone else having issues?

Well I found out how to fix the laptop - did a PC refresh, meant that something in the program files was messed up. Now I have months of updates to do before I can think of 10.

Started at 16:10. 4 hours later and we are now "installing update 91 of 159". In it for the long haul.
