Who'll win the next RWC ?

oh yeah the rankings are fkd and shouldn't be used as argument for any topic, or almost any topic. It's just, again, fun to have a look at from time to time. And yes, Italy and Scotland are definitely the biggest losers in that rankings system as they face Tier 1 nations all 3 test periods a year. Italy will really be tested big time in a month on that Pacific Island tour...

Not really a solid argument. In losing to Wales, France, Ireland and England in the 6 Nations, Italy lost a combined total 0.0 ranking points thanks to a low start value. You could even argue that having a strong fixture list benefits your ranking as you drop relatively little points for losing, and get rewarded well for a win.

Not that the rankings should be seen as something to swear by for accuracy though anyway.

They may not lose anything but they gain nothing either. Tier 2 countries will play similar ranked teir 2 countries and thus you can get a sort of "upper tier 2" who dominate tier 2 and yet cannot beat the lowest of tier 1. As I said though, it would be interesting to see the lowest of tier 1 face the highest of tier 2. Regular games would more accurately determine just how close tier 2 is to tier 1 now.

I'd love to see Georgia vs Italy...two big scrums, and at this point possibly very close in level. I'm quite curious about Canada Scotland too this summer, and Samoa Italy should be an interesting match.

Like who then?

There's limited scope as to how high you can get ranked before wins score barely any or no points.

In their respective regions, they all do...

The 0.0 ranking points that Japan get for winning the A5N hardly supports your argument. Nor does the 0.0 ranking points that Georgia got for beating 4 of their 5 opponents in the ENC, the only points won against Romania wasn't even enough to take them past Canada, so hardly skewing the rankings. Don't think you understand the system.

Based on what you say, it would appear so. I would still like to see the likes of Italy and Scotland playing them either way.

Nick Cummins is only in the team because of our shortage of wingers, Once Speight becomes eligible for selection and O'Connor returns, Nick would be lucky to make the bench with Joe Tomane and possibly ACC as next options
