With the Rugby World Cup now over, international attention now switches to next year's 6 nations and i was wondering who you think will be the winners.

It's really really hard to call this year:
If Wales can keep up their form from the WC then they've got a very good chance - but if France play like they did in the final so do they
Ireland have a good shout, though will be a little disrupted through missing BOD/blooding a new guy in there
If England get their act together they could have a chance too, and Scotland are the same - if their players play to their potential they could cause a few shocks

France to win every game but Scotland in Murrayfield, and England to lose to Italy. Wales to only lose to France, but lose on points difference.

4 of the teams can realisticly win it and as usual I have to say Ireland.

Predictions:

France 8 (Win on PD)
Ireland 8 (Triple Crown for what it's worth)
England 6 (Will Struggle after poor World Cup)
Wales 6 (I think this side will have an average 6N after a great WC)
Italy 2
Scotland 0 (Wooden Spoon)

Personally, I think Wales are the best side in the 6N and if you are going on paper, they should be able to have a couple of 6N triumphs between now and 2015 but things rarely work out as predicted. They could potentially lose in Dublin, Twickenham or vs France at home but having said that I think they will take the ***le with 4 wins out of 5.
France have the ability to win it but you would question them, I think there will be a small bit of player turnover with the French. Ireland have a good shot at winning too although I think the loss of BOD will hurt in the early stages even though it's a great opportunity for some of the younger lads and a great thing for Ireland in the long run.
England have the chance to rebound are well able to get a few wins but I'd reserve judgement until I see how they're playing.
I just don't think Scotland and Italy are good enough at the moment to beat anyone else unfortunately.

I think Wales or Ireland - wrote France initially, that was definitely not what I intended!! - to win Grand Slam this year. They both consistently played good rugby during the WC and I look forward to seeing more of the same come February. Yes France got to the final and pushed NZ there too but I think that they still have massive issues within their rugby and now, immediately after the WC, with planning for the next one in mind, is the time to sort those issues out. It'd be great if they could get the big man Basteraud (what's his form like so far this season any top 14 followers?) on the straight and narrow, I think he gives them a bit of punch that they are missing.

What?! Wales did yes, but ze French didn't? Losing to NewZeeland and Tonga isn't very consistent then beating the worst England side I've ever seen in a RWC and then scraping through a 14 man Wales isn't very good. They played very very well in the final, but they weren't consistent I don't think they ever have been consistent in Rugby history they're the French :p.

Well me and my naive/positive brain are going to say England.

But seriously France, Ireland and England should all be in the same mess(?). They're all going to have to rebuild and that could make it interesting. Wales played well during the RWC but just before that they were bad.
Can they maintain that RWC form? I think so, but all could change. All there stars could have a bad club season, injurys etc.

We ran rule out Italy and Scotland no disrespect but they should be beaten by everyone, yes England could lose to Scotland :p.

All of this should make for an interesting 6nations, but imo not one of high quality as is often seen in the year after the wc.

And Scotland will win the 2015 World cup.

Oh yeah, the fast lock who's already a shoe-in for a lions cap #delusionalcelts

I would love for Scotland to win next year.

More out of interest to see whether I would laugh or cry.

Looking like being France at this stage. Wales, Ireland and England hardly pushovers though. Lets see who does well in the Heineken Cup this weekend - special interest being Racing vs Cardiff.

Racing v Cardiff will be so one-sided it'll be beyond humour.

Perpignan vs Exeter will be the one to watch tonight

Perpignan playing like crap atm and Exeter doing pretty well for themselves - a good chance they'll roll USAP

This kind of speculation seems pointless. We're not sure who is coaching England yet, we're not sure which direction Phillipe-Andre will take France, whether Edwards and Howley in particular will stay with Wales, what kind of injuries are going to happen between then and now, which older players are going to be dropped after the WC, whether the Welsh players can keep their form up, which teams are going to perform well in the Heineken, whether team selections are going to be creative or conservative come 2012 etc. All I can really say now is that it'll probably be one of Wales, France, England and Ireland. There's half a season of rugby to play yet!

I don't think there's be a Grand Slam winner next year. France seems to have "the best" calendar, as we host Ireland and England. Scotland in Murrayfield is far from being a given, but France is still favorite. Wales in Cardiff is obviously the hardest game. I'd give France 1/3 or 2/5 of winning against Wales, 4/5 against England, 3/4 against Ireland and Scotland, and 9/10 or more against Italy in Paris. So that's paying about 9/1 for a Grand Slam (the bookies seem more optimistic than me at 4/1).
Wales visit Ireland and England, so that's a hard calendar and I can't see them getting a GS. I actually don't see them winning the championship either.
I actually think that the deciding matches will be England against Wales and Scotland against England. I get the feeling that the Scots don't care about the 6N, only about beating England, and they often manage to beat the odds.
So, when looking at the odds (the three pictures are 6N, GS and 3C), I think that England and Ireland are more even with Wales and France than what it looks there. I'd actually place a bet againt Wales winning at somthing like 1/2, or against France winning it. Ireland paying 6/1 looks good imo.
For the GS, I'd go for no winner, even if the odd isn't big. 3C is not something I care too much about but notice something: Wales pays more than Ireland for a 3C and less for a GS. I'm sure something can be done out of that...
