Who needs Habana or JP Pietersen

he already is a big deal, that is, if he can stay fit. I can't see it being long before he'll add to his South African caps

Fanally!!! All you bums have started listening!!! :)

I have been saying it forever now, but everyone says he sucks, and is not the fastest. Guess one game did a lot! He is lightning, and will become a fantastic player. . .

How old Chavanga? i heard about him a couple years ago, and rated him then (purely because he's lightning fast)

I heard about him years ago, but never since. He's 24 at the moment. I heard somewhere he has a mean tackle as well, so Habana + Chavanga the dream team? :p

Looking forward to Wales' SA tour, hopefully they'll play a lot of their younger players!

The wiki rates Chavanga at 10.26 at the moment, which is very very fast.

For a look at his speed, check this vid of Habana at 4:50 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVBctDfxx3k

The man coming over to cover from the near side of the field is Chavanga (no. 14). Alright, Habana was probably slacking off the pace a little as he had a clear run, but it's still an impressive catch-up run! In another instance when Sivivatu tried to come over to cover Chavanga, he just... stopped because he didn't have the pace to catch him.

I reckon Habana, Chavanga and Steyn, as the back 3 for the Boks is an dangerous counter attacking option. (alright steyn coz he has a mean boot on him)

I first saw him play when he scored 6 or 7 tries against Uruguay. I think that was his 1st and only cap for the Boks.

And now he's back in the headlines

Jer1cho can finally rest easy now :p

Yeah, but now Bull seems to have gotten sour. Oh wait, 40-8.......... The Reds........

Ok, you are forgiven, i would have been pretty sour too if my team had played a little worse than Portugals F team......

Talk about taking the thread off topic! But yes I was ****** at the way my team lost on Saturday but it's got nothing to do with Chavanga.

When I hear something about Chavanga I always think promises-promises, he has never done anything to let me sit up and say hey this guy is pretty good. He is constantly injured and doesn't perform consistently well week in and week out or do things amazing like Habana or Rokocoko.

He scored one pretty okay try against an under performing Chiefs team and now he gets hailed as the next big wing. Speed alone doesn't make a great wing.

Um, here is an interesting question for you Bull, When Jake White picked Bryan Habana to tour to the UK in 04, was he anyone special? No! Nobody knew who he was, then he scored that try in the corner against England, and BOOM! He was hailed as the next big thing (which he soon became)!

Tonderai Chavhanga has talent, and bringing Rokocoko into the equasion? Before he was injured (yes, Chavhanga waas out for 2 years with injury) the Stormers played the Blues in Auckland, which was the first game he played for them. He tore Roks to pieces!!! I am trying my utmost best to find some footage, but it is proving difficult.

It's not fair to say he is overrated when you have only seen him play a handful of games. I watched an interview with Bryan Habana who was asked who he thought the best finisher in the game was, and being modest toward himself saying most of his tries are team efforts (whatever) he said that Tonderai Chavhanga takes his vote.

To have someone like Bryan Habana give you that kind of recognition is awesome. Be a critic now, but when he is selected to play for the Boks (which he will be) and you scream your lungs out when he cruises towards the try line, we will have this conversation again. . . . . .

PS... this cheetah racing Bryan in my signature, he was whooped by Tonderai!!!!!! LOL

I know that tour to the UK and a lot of people was ****** because he took this unknown guy on tour having only played CC, but he performed well in the CC.

I remember that game the Stormers also won that day if I'm not mistaken, but what I'm saying is that a wing needs more than speed to make. At the moment Chavanga has only shown speed and a bit of a step.

What about Nokwe he was also selected to go on a Bok tour and he ended up holding a tackle bag, now he struggles to make the Cheetahs team.

Till now Chavanga has not done enough to warrant a selection and be picked before Habana and Pietersen, that's not fair.

Nobody said he should be picked over anyone. All i am saying is don't say he sucks when he doesn't. Speed is not everything? Tell that to Takudzwa Ngwenya who burnt Habana at the world cup and became famous because he outstripped one guy. . .

The guy does have talent dude. He saw that gap, summed up the opposition, and scored a brilliant try. Hence, TALENT for the game. He can tackle as well! And finally, would you say no to selecting the fastest player in world rugby for your team just because he might not be able to....um....pass very far? Or whatever you deem to be necessary talent to play wing. Habana had a nightmare 2006, and this year it's not looking too good for him so far either. . . Everyone has crap games, and everyone has good ones.

Chavhanga will be the same, but when he has his good days, i sure would'nt be the one stupid enough not to select him, and even worse, i would'nt want to be the one playing against him.

To be honest, I would consider roks defence to be pretty average. I mean Lome Fa'atau has torn roks to peices on more than one occasion and he isnt even AB material. Roks is my favorite wing btw and I still consider him the best winger.

I agree with Bull, Chavanga needs to keep stay on form in order to be considered into SA team.

Yea this was a superb try, electric pace off the mark and a great finish. He also has by far the best try scoring ratio in international rugby, with 6 tries in one game :bravo:

Doesnt Fa'atau play for Samoa...

@ DarkmanX: Sorry man, i was by no means saying Roks sucks. He is a brilliant player, and seems to finding his form again this year.

Geez you Stormers like to glorify the guys in your team. Put him up against real opposition not Uruguay. Players with a good score ratio are Habana, Lomu, Howlett, Cullen and Joe Roff in the S12.

True, I was just saying it the way that if he was eligible he still wouldnt have made it into the the ABs. He didnt even make the canes reserves on his last yearin the super 14.

Jer1cho, I wasnt saying that roks was my fav wing because I was offended. I just wanted to make it clear Im not hating on Roks.

So i take it he is not busy playing quality opposition at the moment? :lol2tn:
