What TV Show's are you watching/looking forward to?

I don't really get that line of complaints either, tbh - COVID and writers strikes will do that to ya. It's definitely been slow, but it's not egregious

It's not like the age differences between the actors and their characters is unusual for TV - the main kids are currently the same age as Steve was in S1, but the actors were 2yrs younger, during filming, than Steve's actor was in S1
Its just so visible because they used age appropriate kids in the first place. They've gone through full puberty and then some.

I'm trying but Episode 1 isn't grabbing me.

I liked first two seasons and couldn't stand season 3, really impossible to support this bs about the Soviet Union and dull lines with "Soviet people" looking/behaving like typical Westerners, speaking terrible Russian or those heroes pretending being Soviet speaking Russian with a terrible English accent (and "Soviets" taking them also for Soviet people) etc etc. Idiotism. Season 4 was slightly better (but again impossible to watch those gulag, vodka and matryoshka, towarisch! 🤦‍♀️).
Yet
first two seasons were so interesting that we decided to go to the event in Warsaw dedicated to the last season :) don't know if some of you visited it in your cities? We had a free one, with serial decorations, exhibition, small show and even pizza/ice cream like in a serial. Was really cool :)

I just finished watching the 4 episodes,
Really like them and can't wait for the rest 🤷🏻‍♂️
Yeah, I've just finished the 4 episodes, really enjoyed them, especially the last episode! Still one of the best things on TV. Can't wait for the rest.

I can understand the Soviet thing being grating for you, but I can understand the reasons why the show went that way given that the whole show is an 80's throwback, and in the 80's the 'baddies' in all American cinema was soviet Russia, fuelled by the cold war. So for many 'westerners, it pulls all the right nostalgia strings.

I understand what you mean. It's not only a negative light put on the Soviet Union, it's also a lot of stupidity and lack of basic knowledge about the country, culture and people they wanted to show. And that's really disgusting in some moments. I dropped watching it on S3 and restarted just before the event made by Netflix in Warsaw (dedicated to this serial) that I was curious to visit. The event was really cool, better than the serial tbh 😍
By the way,in Soviet/post Soviet serials and movies they were rarely mentioning Brits and Americans, but when they were doing it,it was always with an understanding and a certain respect to them/their cultures.
Except the above-mentioned, I pretty liked this serial, S1/S2 were the best, then S4/beginning of S5 are ok, least interesting is S3 imo.

If Netflix's proposed purchase of Warner Bros Discovery goes through that's presumably the end of HBO Max unless Netflix feel compelled to operate two streaming services for some reason

The likely idea would be to get all the HBO shows onto Netflix no? And if that's one less subscription for people I don't see it as a bad thing.

Unless they're doing a Microsoft and buying up stuff to set it on fire.

HBO brand has prestige and in the US a cable channel. Netflix might decide they're best off keeping HBO Max around in some form.

Started watching Chad Powers on Disney+,
It's based off of Eli Manning's character in those "NFL Player wears prosthetics and goes undercover at college" videos you see crop up on YouTube

Only 1.5 episodes in but it's surprisingly good - kinda surprised that Glen Powell is in it, and is returning for a second season, seeing as he's on a pretty steady rise in Hollywood

Not a TV show but was watching a long interview with this guy from Stroud nicknamed “Posh Pete”

Basically, he’s a not so posh guy (though speaks well and is articulate) from Stroud who became an international cocaine smuggler and, long story short, got banged up in a prison in Ecuador for 10 years.

Mad life story. Apparently he’s got a potential Netflix series in the pipeline (a movie couldn’t cover it all and do his story justice)

Guy looks like a nerd but is clearly a bit mental even though he comes across super chill and normal.

As I say, he has so many mad stories. One of my favourites was when he was first locked up when he was a teenager/early twenties for selling pills in the illegal rave scene in the 90s (before he started dealing coke properly) he did some time in a prison in the isle of wright. Anyway, fast forward a bit, after he gets out of prison he tries to go straight doing painting and decorating but has a bad day and thinks **** this I’m going to start smuggling cocaine. Goes out to South America (Columbia I think) and meets some cartel guys to source the gear. He’s with a mate of his who’s made the contact and gets to this mansion out in the countryside and his mate is arguing with the 2 Colombians and he said although he couldn’t speak Spanish at the time he could tell they were arguing and he understood enough when he heard the Colombians shouting “MI5” and “Polocia” at which point he started ******** himself as both the Colombians were armed obviously. So he interjected and said “I’m not police I’ve recently been released from prison”

When he said this one of the Colombians started speaking perfect English and said “where did you go to prison” Pete told him where and then the Colombian said “that’s funny I was in prison near there at a similar time” Pete knew the other prison well and said to the Colombian “do you know a guy called X” and the Colombian was like “yes that was my cell mate” and pulled out a picture and Pete was like this guy is one of my best mates” and told him all about him. By which point the Columbians put away their guns and were all smiles and laughing and they did the deal. Afterwards the Colombian was laughing with Pete saying “ha ha, we thought your were MI5 and was about to kill you” and Pete was just left thinking he was in the wilderness in South America where his life was dependant on him being in prison at that specific time and relying on these random Colombian drug lords knowing a mate of his. What a small world.

Needless to say his time in prison in Ecuador was pretty crazy as well. I hope they do make a TV show out of it as it’s just absolutely mental.

Movie-TV divide for actors isn't what it used to be with the rise of streaming. The big 5 movie studios also make less movies than they used to so if you're a working actor willing to X projects a year you got to do them somewhere.
