What games are you playing?

This is the most ridiculous console game I've ever come across:

90+ GB download
Go to start it
Sorry you've got to download the campaign separately, another 20gb
Download, go to start
Sorry you've got to download another 17GB to link the campaign to the multiplayer part
From 2019 no less.

How are people finding Elden ring as a game (ignoring all the console/ PC waving)?

I read there was no quest log or anything and a lot of people are a bit lost with the game? Just wondered on those who are playing it?

It's one of the best games I've ever played. The lack of hand-holding/half a million map markers/a big neon arrow saying THIS WAY NOW is really refreshing. I'm a rabid Souls fan, so ymmv.

I'm not massively bothered about performance issues, the art is beautiful so wanging on about frame rates or lack of ray tracing makes me shrug.

It's essentially Soulsrim of the Wild, which is everything I want in a big game

It's great in that it doesn't hold your hand, but I do feel I tend to lose direction and spend a lot of time milling about. This is the first Souls game I've really played so wasn't used to it at the start and may have missed some important information.

I think it just shows how much delayed games and COVID impacted last year. CP2077 patch 1.5 was its proper release and the actual working game is a far better play experience but not being delayed meant it wasn't up for this year.

From the people who love Elden Ring and having completed Forbidden West myself they'd easily walk over last years winners. If God of War Ragnorok comes out this year and is anywhere near its predecessor. Hogwarts Legacy will probably be good too if JKR doesn't continue to burn her reputation to the ground (will probably still do gangbusters as most people don't actually see what she's actually saying on twitter just what reported on). Homeworld 3 also exists which will be niche but could be awesome.

Played the demo of the new Kirby game on Switch last night, and now rreeaalllyy want to get the full thing - the price of Switch games puts me off though (same with the new Lego Star Wars game, and Breath of the Wild, really, as that's still full price)

It reminds me a bit of Super Mario odyssey but I enjoyed it a lot lot more.
I couldn't really get into Odyssey - not sure if I was just distracted by what was on TV when playing it, or something. Will have to give it another crack.

Nintendo games hold their value really well, so you can always buy secondhand and then ebay once you're done. Just costs you the ebay fee.

You really should get BotW if you've ever enjoyed an open world game, it's astonishing.

That's a good point, actually - I've been looking at the prices of 2nd hand ones and being annoyed that they're still expensive...forgetting that it means I can resell for the same

I keep hearing the same about BotW but that £45 price tag just kills me considering it's 5 years old, ha

It might drop when the sequel releases.... buuuut that's just been pushed back to next year.

Could lend you my copy?

First party Nintendo games don't tend to lose their value. You'd be lucky to get them 1/3 off sometimes.

Either way BoTW, even if it is 5 years old, is still totally worth the full price tag
