Not really as that would have to be signed off by the RFU - believe that's what happened when the SRU wanted to buy London Scottish, before ending up with some half hearted partnership instead

It is sadly going to be Cardiff and Swansea, will be interesting to see how they brand them. Cardiff have only recently stopped pretending they are a region.

If they brand as East and West that closes off any future team coming back.

I wonder if the thinking is broad enough at the WRU.

The 42.ie has an interview with Martin Ananyi CEO of the URC. There’s a few interesting points;
The reduction in Welsh regions is a consultation process, and no decision has been made.
They’re interested in maintaining “jeopardy and narrative”, not necessarily the number of clubs. Downsizing the league is an option.
R360 isn’t stacking up. The URC has higher revenue than LIV Golf, R360’s cost model doesn’t meet realistic goals. Players will test numbers before signing binding contracts.
The URC shares its office building with the PRL. Nobody’s going to **** in anyone’s porridge.

Realistivally hes been bouncing between Canterbury and Crusaders for a few seasons, hasnt quite made the grade yet, and tbh not surr he offers much more Carter, Williams, Fender, Davies already dont.
