Warratahs vs. Brumbies - Sydney Football stadium 18/05/2013

"The Waratahs have named Paddy Ryan to make his fourth start of the season in this weekend's Australian derby clash against the Brumbies.
Ryan's inclusion at tighthead prop in place of Sekope Kepu is one of two changes to the side that last week overpowered the Stormers 21-15, with Drew Mitchell also elevated from the bench in place of Peter Betham.
The game is NSW's first of the season at ANZ Stadium and Head Coach Michael Cheika's first visit to the venue.
"There's always something special about these Australian derby games because there's so much rivalry built up over all the years of playing each other. With the Brumbies also leading the competition, this is a very important game for us," said Cheika.
"Last time we played them in Canberra back in Round 4, our effort was simply not good enough to compete with a very well drilled Brumbies outfit."
"Throughout this season, we've been working hard at developing our identity and becoming an honest hardworking team and I think now we're starting to play the kind of attacking running rugby that we want to be known for. "
"How we play under the pressure of this match up will show how committed we are to play the brand of rugby that we want associated with NSW rugby.
"For me, building a winning mentality is about getting up for every game, about having that obsessive mentality every day in training as well as when you step out onto the pitch but there will be a little extra edge in the game, something I personally enjoy in rugby.
"The Brumbies have been showing the way all season. They're well ahead of us on the table, they're very disciplined in the way they play the game and they've got good leadership."
"I'm sure they'll think they will have an edge on us so it's up to us to respond in kind. We'll require the level of physicality that we showed against the Stormers last week plus 10 per cent."

"The Brumbies have made two changes to the team that lost to the Crusaders before their bye with Scott Sio returning to the starting line up.
Sio has been named at loose-head prop and Scott Fardy returns from injury at lock.
Fardy hasn't been seen in Brumbies colours since the South African block almost a month ago where he suffered and ankle injury, but has since recovered making his way through Canberra's John I Dent Cup with Wests.
With Dan Palmer dropping from the Brumbies 22-man squad, Ruan Smith has been included on the bench for his first appearance in a Brumbies jersey.
Having previously claimed two caps for the Western Force, Smith has worked hard to maintain his Super Rugby quality during 2013 and will be looking to make a big impact at ANZ Stadium on Saturday.
A former Australian and South African Schoolboys star, Smith fits the mould of a young Ben Alexander and links nicely with fellow youngsters Sio and Siliva Siliva in the front row.
As well as Palmer, Leon Power drops out of the Brumbies 22-man squad. Peter Kimlin moves from lock to blind-side flanker, Ben Mowen to No. 8 and Fotu Auelua shifts back to the bench.
"Waratah week is one of the most important for all Brumbies players and supporters on the rugby calendar. They've been playing convincing rugby over the last month or so and the trip to Sydney presents us with a significant challenge," White said.
"It's great to see both Scotts in the starting side, Sio is now a proven starter and Fardy has been one of our most consistent players over the last two years.
"Saturday will also be an exciting time for Ruan. He's been biding his time, waiting for an opportunity and I'm sure he'll take it with both hands come Saturday night.
"There are no easy away games in this competition, we are aware of that. So to win in Sydney against an in-form Waratahs side is a big challenge.
"We have trained well this week and will be putting our best foot forward to come away from Sydney with a win."
The brumbies will hold their Captain's Run in Canberra on Friday morning before taking the bus to Sydney after lunch.

So...what's the point of having this game at ANZ Stadium? Why have a half-full 82,000 capacity ground when you can have a nearly full 45,000 capacity ground?
