The Waratah's have resigned Sosene Anesi, and have also signed Auckland wing Atieli Pakalani for the upcoming Super 15 (http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/super-15/4254439/Waratahs-sign-Kiwi-duo-for-Super-15)

I'm not surprised they resigned Anesi as he was ok for them last year, and was unlikely to be offered a contract with the Chiefs. Pakalani is an interesting player - he was quite impressive during the early parts of the NPC, but then had a couple of really poor games, and hasn't been seen since. He is a promising young player (just turned 21), but I can't see him getting much game time for the Tah's this season.

Well at least the Chiefs franchise can recruit someone better than Anesi now, with either Ahsee Tuala or Sherwin Stowers open to S15 contracts.

Unfortunately (for the Chiefs) Stowers has signed with the Blues (http://www.rugbynews.co.nz/news/ind...pl?PHPSESSID=c60ad40ab72ac3c40b76959ef36fd89b ). I wouldn't be surprised if the Chiefs sign Henry Speight, as he's been really impressive for Waikato in recent weeks, though I'm sure the likes of Tuala, Mikkelson,and Hona are also in contention.

Ahh well, good sign by the Blues. Other than Rokocoko, Stowers may well push for a starting spot. I can't think of who's better than him, with Rudi Wulf playing for Toloun.

Rene Ranger? With Ice back, Ranger is more likely to move to the wing.

i'm surprised they haven't signed Speight already if he's available

and i think this signing by the Warratahs might be a waste of money, Pakalani hasn't been that great for Auckland

I think Anesi is a waste, seen as he wasn't all that hot for them last year really. He got dropped to the bench quicksmart. They also have Beale, Turner and Mitchell so i can't see the point in signing two more outside backs.
The Pakalani signing is also quite odd, he is an out and out broken play runner and counter attacker, which doesn't really fit in with the Waratah style. Maybe they know something we dont.

Ranger is a far better centre, and Ice a better fullback. It doesn't make sense to put them both out of position. This looks more likely;

15)Ice
14)Payne
13)Ranger
12)Stanley/McAllister
11)Roks
10)Brett/McAllister
9)Matthewson
