Wales v England

hard to imagine England will be involved in a classic this year, may be a classic for opposition fans in terms of what they do to them, that's about it.

The other Welshers are really playing down our chances.
Cymro, don't tell me you'd settle for a 15 point victory!

I honestly don't see any teams in the 6nations beating England by more than 20. This is the 6nations, not some end of year tour where NZ or SA smash us northern teams. England are always there or there abouts in this competition, I'll gamble that Engalnd will beat one of Wales, Ireland or France, they always do!

I'd be happy with a 15point win, you'd be daft not to be!

yeah but what's changed with England since the Autumn, nothing in fairness, no reason at all why Wales shouldn't give them a hiding they're just streets ahead of them.

Oh I get it, ha ha! You're avoiding jinxing the team. Good plan; it worked with Ireland and Tarbh at least! :D
WALES ARE GONNA DIE. You heard it here first!

Never underestimate a wounded team! Wales have sprung a few surprises over the years when their backs have been against the wall, 2007 v England comes to mind. They will have nothing to loose, and I honestly believe they will perform better against teams in the 6n as opposed to the SANSAR teams. We know each others games and don't fear each other unlike most of us NH teams feel against teams like NZ and SA.

Edit: also can you see any of the Home Nations or France put the same kinda scores on teams that NZ and SA do? Very rarely do we beat each other by big margins, but every Autumn NZ thrash somebody, be it England (this ear), Wales (most years) or Ireland (often). They just have the nack of putting big scores on teams, wheras we really don't!

We can't predict hpw much england are gonna lose by untill you see if they pick a half decent team.

Noon out for Tait (as Prestwick is gagging for), Foden at scrum half, Maybe start Croft. Maube Flood and you have a far less **** team, and then I'd say 15 point win is plenty.

Noon out for Tait[/b]

Yes please, an even lighter weight midfield for Roberts to destroy!

I'd rather a stone with spikes than a brick that does nothing.

Fair enough. Me too when I come to think about it lol. Tait could add more to their attackling play than he looses in defense. Englands problem seems to be more complex than lack of creative flair behind, they aren't getting good enough ball and their forwards get in the way of any they do create, with little pop passes to a static prop who makes 1m etc.

btw, nice analogy.

The tables are right royally reversed.

As we all know, England usually assume they'll beat Wales. And we usually do. Which is why we get such a ribbing whenever we lose.

And usually we are the better team going into the match. As recently as last year, Wales had flopped out of the world cup, we had overachieved, and at half time at Twickenham it seemed like England would be handing Wales a thumping. Since then, everything has changed.

Now, it is Wales who really did look the part against Scotland today; it was Wales who threatened a SH team... and in contrast England look disorganised and it's difficult to see where any improvement might come from.

So, given the gulf in the teams Wales should most certainly win by at least 15 points. I wouldn't be surprised if the Welsh put 4 or 5 tries past us, nor if we fail to score.

HOWEVER. Isn't this what a realistic Welshman would be saying in an average year? Is this not the 6N? There's always the possibility that we could spring a surprise. There's nothing to indicate that we could based on form, but the 6N has a big history of good teams being upset by the underdogs. So I'm still interested in this game simply because there's a little chance. Just a little one.

well yes it's only 2 years since Ireland put a score on England, they've got worse since so why can't it happen again?

Fancy us to get to half time more or less level with a polished and methodical first half performance, then be steamrollered in the second and have no answers but mass indiscipline, end up losing by circa 20.

Or the other way around with the same scoreline.

true I didn't take that into account but we're looking at a shock along the same lines of Ireland winning at Twickenham back in 1994 and we've not had a similar scale shock since, so maybe it's due!
