Ok then, is this going to be a **** show or will it actually be entertaining due to less pressure and teams trying things out? Would be good to see expected England line ups and what not and what you guys are hoping/expecting to get out of the game (other than getting your pants pulled down of course)

What kind of team are people expecting/hoping for? Given that this is our only game before selecting the squad I'd say we cram in as many of the super young/inexperienced guys who we haven't seen play much/any international rugby yet as we can to get a look at them, and then fill the gaps with as much experience and leadership as possible so that we're not sending the lambs to slaughter. Not ideal but I think the best option given the circumstances.

Something like:

1. Genge
2. Dan
3. Sinckler
4. Martin
5. Itoje
6. Pearson
7. Earl
8. Willis
9. Youngs
10. Farrell
11. Murley
12. Tuilagi
13. Slade
14. Arundell
15. Steward

I hope so, but don't think Borthwick is vibes enough for that, more likely to be an Italy-game type selection, of mostly first choice but a few curveballs

Maybe something like:

1. Genge (c)
2. George
3. Stuart
4. Itoje
5. Ribbans
6. Curry
7. Willis
8. Dombrandt
9. Care
10. Ford
11. May
12. Lawrence
13. Tuilagi
14. Cokanasiga
15. Steward

16. Dan
17. Marler
18. Sinckler
19. Martin
20. T.Willis
21. JvP
22. Farrell
23. Arundell

Though I wouldn't be surprised at Ford/Farrell being the starting 10/12 in most warmups

Scrappy and dull as ****

England to win, but look mind numbingly boring while doing so
Wales to look a disorganised mess but score the better tries on the day

Wal 17 - 28 Eng
Don't forget we'll surely try some dirty sneaky trick to get a try like it was a grand slam decider even though it's only a warm up "friendly"

Do you select your squad after this game? Interesting.

Forshaw kinda said we'll be selecting ours after the second game at Twickenham next week.

I have no idea what team we'll play to be honest. Faletau might not even make it to the WC and he's currently outside of the group with Johnny Williams, Owen Williams, Joe Roberts and a cuthbert also not with the group I believe

I'd like to see something like this for Wales

Domachowski, Lake, Asseratti
Rowlands, Jenkins
Tshiunza, Morgan, Wainwright

Davies, Costellow
Llewellyn, Grady
Dyer, Williams, LRZ

Dee, Smith, Thomas, Davies, Basham, Williams, Anscombe, Adams

Itoje Martin
Curry Willis Willis

Van Poortvliet Farrell
Tuilagi Lawrence

I thought Murley had already been left out of the squad.

Definitely see him going Ford, Farrell and Cokanasiga. As SB likes a lump on the wings who will chase kicks all day.

Since when, exactly? Wouldn't say any of his 6N selections fit that bill, and I don't recall him ever being especially partial to big, kick-chasing lumps at Tigers. Sure Nadolo was a lump but he wasn't a kick-chaser, and that's one winger out of a whole bunch that he's selected for Tigers/England.

True Borthwick even dropped Nadolo for the final

What Borthwick does like is the old age tradition of
1 strike runner
Nadolo
Ashton
Saumaki

1 chaser
Watson
Potter

He very rarely if at all had Potter and Watson out together

Could be interesting for Care, starting and being on the bench!!

D'oh! That'll really test how much life is left in those old legs

Think I initially had JvP start Care bench but meant to flip them

So Dan is a really good prospect and we learn nothing by playing George. So throw him in at the deep end, if he is coming to the WC in a weaker position like hooker then he needs gametime. For set piece if nothing else.

Big Pearson fan but he should be on the bench to add an impact but leaving our starters to build get gametime together.

Martin i would start for experience as i think it isnt a position of real depth especially with Chessum(also quite inexperienced) in there when fit.

Genge Dan Sinks
Itoje Martin
TCurry TWillis JWillis

JVP Faz(he will start no matter what)
Lawrence Slade or Tuilagi Slade or Tuilagi Lawrence (i just wonder that last one will get caught out defensivly being 2 big blokes.)
Murley Steward Watson

I still see Arundell as an attacking FB rather than a winger tbh thats where all the highlight reel moments happened that got him in the team in the first place.

Forgot about Plumtree. Would be wise to give him a run-out to cast the rule over him. Maybe start him at 6 with Tshiunza dropping to the bench instead of Davies.

I'd like to see both Tshiunza and Plumtree tested at lock during the warm ups too, having versatility in a WC squad can be key, especially thr latter stages if we make it that far. Injuries always happen, and flying in a replacement isn't always viable or beneficial when they haven'g been part of camp in the lead-up.

What kind of team are people expecting/hoping for?

This is literally the only chance for any of the standby players who might be called up through injury to get any game time. So a mix of that and some experience is probably about right.

Then we have the final squad. The second Welsh game can be perhaps be experimental in the sense of trying some combinations but the final 2 games should be mostly about some cohesion for the likely starting XV with perhaps a bit of experimentation from the bench.
