The Bulls were on fire for most of game, Habana was pretty useless in defence although he scored a nice try.Bulls scrum was solid as always and Pierre Spies showed again why he is the best no.8 in the world (after Parrise ofcourse :D ). Zane Kirchner was also very solid at the back for the Bulls

For the Blues the stand-outs were Anthony Tuitavake(was very dangerous in attack) and Rene Ranger(who shrugged off Habana like he wasn't even there  ) and Keven Mealamu who lead very well from the front and had a blinder of a game even though he was still carrying that calf strain injury

Defences not on top then

That's some scoreline when you consider how close all the other games have been so far this campaign.

Im looking forward to the Blues coming to Newlands next weekend :D

Jeez how bad must the Force be to lose at home against them :p

But congratulations to the Bulls and their fans, thats really an awesome scoreline, there's been very few 50+ scorelines in the last few years. Funnily enough i think the last one was the Bulls vs Highlanders last year? definate top 4 contenders.

Bakkies Botha must of had an absolute cracker to get MOTM in a game like this

Geez the Blues really miss their ABs. Didn't really see the point of starting Woodcock from the bench. Stormers looked vunerable against the Reds so their might be some hope for the Blues. Blues need to sort out their defense, they let in 2-3 soft tries, other tries were well constructed by the Bulls.

Didn't they put 90 on the Reds 2 years ago? Or was that the Sharks?
Either way, Spies was a BEAST! Absolutely phenomenal performance!

Yup 92-3 against the Reds in 2007. Spies was immense, ive seen the game and his two tries were some of the best you will ever see from an 8. In a way its surprising the Bulls can so often score huge amounts of points considering imo alot of the players lack the real cutting edge skill of say a Canes or Chiefs backline. Still they must be doing something right, i really cant see anything but a South African winner this year, i just have that feeling.

right i know you guys play rugby better than we do up here in the north, but seriously... that's 11 tries scored in 1 game. i don't watch S14 apart from a few tries here and there so i can't comment on the games vyt... it strikes me that you lot are doing something wrong if scires are getting that high.

If it's just the odd game, (like one in every 25 or so) that scores like that come along, it's not so bad. Generally we have a great balance of attacking and defensive games in the Super 14.

Well if you go take a look at the results of the Super14 for the past 2 weeks you'll see that all the games were won and lost by no more or less then 6 points except the 2 games of the Bulls against the Reds(13 points game) and now the Blues(33points game).

So except for the Bulls drinking too much Red-Bull <strike>and probably getting secret advice from Heyneke Meyer</strike> this Super14 looks like its going to be tight right to the end.

i'm not denying that it's tight but up here tight games are often 19-18 for example; with you its 34-33.

I'm telling you it's the rules that make the difference. Most infringements around rucks and mauls now result in free kicks instead of penalties. So, where the teams in the NH are just kicking goals all day long, the teams here are scoring more tries because there are more opportunities to run the ball.

I must agree that the tries of Pierre were the best I've seen from any forward for a long time, the Bulls just need to focus a bit more when they are in front and defending... also the back three of the Blues were outstanding, very hard to tackle

On the subject of SH ELVs, you can keep them. I like the way the NH game is at the moment and after watching Stormers v Reds on friday (albeit this is just one game as an example), although people may say it is open, exciting and non-stop, to me it just looked like Mickey Mouse rugby. I think if these were applied up here it would be an absolute mess as NH players and teams do not have the intensity, discipline and skill overall of their southern counterparts.
I think both sets of rules are suited perfectly for where they are played. :)

Agreed with that (granted I haven't seen many games). The ELV's applied in the NH are fine imo; we don't want the SH ones.

Haha, mickey mouse rugby.. Are you kidding me?
Nobody will force you boys to like the brand of rugby played down here but a little respect would adequate as our so called mickey mouse rugby shat on the NH teams from a great height just a few months ago.

Using our own rules as well! Chill out Steve. You're players are better than ours, just the rules you apply in competition are ****.
