USA vs All Blacks - 01/11

60 points.
@psychic duck.

How do you like them apples? :)

I knew you would post something about this as soon as the scoreline started coming up, PD never said that the AB's running up the score wasn't impossible just not a forgone conclusion. 74 against and a 68 margin is pretty bad, but not as much as 100 as some were suggesting(and yes I know you weren't one of them on here.)

Scramble defence from the Eagles today was pretty terrible, not to take away anything from the AB's who were brilliant with ball in hand.

Great job from the US to limit NZ considering they had 43 just after the half hour mark.

well new zealand did score two when he came on so, i hope that answers your question

Both from broken play when he had no involvement. Perhaps he was just a bit over-excited about making his debut, but he seemed invariable go the wrong way whenever he picked up the ball...

Oh lighten up and have a laugh.

It's just a bit of harmless teasing.

US actually did OK at times, they just forced it to much.

Fair enough, and PD can fight his own battles so I'll let him respond.

I'm trying to have détente with you so I'll just move on and agree with you on the Eagles forcing things.

just saw the score. Twelve tries ay ? I guess they were superstitious and avoided the thirteenth ?

Well there is about a two tiers difference, what the hell can we expect...payback for what Team USA did to the Tall-Blacks at the WC I suppose. Is it even worth checking out for a neutral ??

Offloading in this game.

Was like oh my gosh.

yes, tis healthy to empty the old ball sac every once in a while, I agree.

If you can check out a highlight package of the AB's tries I'd suggest it there were some very well taken scores, watching the whole match...meh. First twenty was all right.

Right, I remember having heaps of fun watching NZ at the last WC put 70 or 80 on everybody in the pool (well except against France...that was hard to watch) but I loved the "beau geste" so gratuitously back then, the 'beautiful game'. Sonny Bill Williams running the break, all that...right now as a seasoned 3.5year Rugby warlord master guru, there's a possibility it could bore me...
Was there anything worth watching from the USA ?? Anything interesting on any level ??...

Eagles played well for about the first 15 minutes(I thought they'd go for the first half hour at that level of play) but disintegrated after a couple of quick AB tries.

not sure what that does for the supposed growth of the sport in the country...Americans (like most people really..) would rather see *their* team play well. Not sure bringing in the best there is to town to put on a show; albeit a show they sure put on; is really going to have that positive an impact...I don't think there's that sort of humility from what I understand about Americans that they can feel interested when their team's getting smashed to Smithers (yes, Mr. Burns' assistant).
Mission accomplished ??... :/

Anywhere in Asia you can find an All Black jersey. Commentary is priceless.
Yeah I enjoyed the enthusiasm of the commentators to be honest, but what in the world did they mean by saying that the All Blacks Jersey behind the Yankees Stripes was the World's most famous jersey. The North Korean government releases more reliable statistics than those lads.

i'm getting quite scared off the all blacks coming to murrayfield now...
How do you think Namibia will feel ahead of their World Cup clash next year?

Disappointing that the USA couldn't manage a single try, but a great occasion nonetheless. Hopefully Americans won't be too put off by the scoreline, but I don't think they would've expecting a lot though. Curious to see how TV ratings went as well.

Now americans have one impression, actually a wrong one, of rugby like..."rugby, that sport at we suck".

any time I've had any sort of interaction with Americans regarding this sport, they would hint at or just downright assert Rugby is just secondary to Am football in the absolute hierarchy of sports. It's not vexing or anything but it shows you how far they are from even trying to get closer to it. If Americans are to adopt this sport, their team will have to perform big time. Only then will they maybe start getting behind it and support their team and discover the sport. That's what I think.

Scully had a good game so i'm happy.

Why... coz he made a routine tackle on a winger that any Golden oldies winger could have pulled off?

Im struggling how a 70 point loss at home can be spun into a positive. Most americans are saying this game is now putting more americans OFF rugby.

Well done USA... Well done.

Overall this match was downright boring.

I went down to the local pub (relatively empty at that time of day) and watched it on the big screen, at the bar. First time I've ever been able to do that with a rugby match, so that was special. I talked with several people about the game, and it seems that it appealed mostly to the female patrons. One was quite impressed by Cruden's tongue.

There was no sound, so when they performed the haka I squeezed my haka bear (which plays a recording of the haka) and managed to match the sound up with the action on the pitch. I'm such a rugby nerd. :)

I watched the entire game. Thought the US did fairly well the first half, but their defense just wasn't there in the second - too many holes in their defensive line. Still, it was great to watch my ABs in a public setting, at normal hours, instead of all alone in the dark of my room at 2 am in the morning.

Final 6-74 - it could have been worse but Cruden missed a lot of kicks.

Also, Dan Carter has the most adorable dimples. :)

I'll watch it later with commentary. I see that someone said American commentary sucks, and I agree. Makes Justin Marshall seem like a silver-tongued genius, no? ;)
