Well I know what our world champion scrum-half did...
If we gave away a penalty at ruck time in that position (not that any Ulster play would give away a penalty in such a position in the dying seconds of a vital game, no no no no...), they could have equalised. Pushing them out of penalty range was absolutely vital.
Now I'm calming down... I think I might have a man-crush on Willie Faloon. I hope his place as our starting 7 is secured for the rest of the season now and I'd personally tout him (along with half the Ulster team tbh) for an A game in the upcoming games. So much more balanced with him there. Great pack performance allround.
Also, I'm slowly coming to the opinion that Nevin Spence may well be O'Driscoll's long term heir. There's a lot of competition for that role, but he's just so brutally, explosively powerful. Good feet, good pace, growing into the role defensively... maybe needs to be a little less selfish at times. Cave has one hell of a battle to get back into the team, and I rate Cave a lot.
Not a game for the purists, not a game for the neutral... but in terms of commitment, defence, canniness, fitness and sheer swinging balls I can't fault that Ulster performance. Foul conditions and formidable opponents. No doubt it lacks polish, we're not at the top table yet... but that was a big step in the right direction.
Now c'mon Glasgae!
