Tuqiri Now a Tiger

Wow, interesting signing, but i can't say I don't think he will fit in well at Leicester.

Meh. Over-rated player here on a quick money deal when Tigers are desperate for players.

Probably have a decent début but won't make a real impact - Another Vinakolo.

Well if he is he'll make a good premiership winger. Won't necessarily set the world alight, but is certainly good enough to be a starter in a Premiership team with a good squad. Also, Leicester's wingers... Amorosino is ****. Johne Murphy and Smith are average. Leaving Hamliton, Geordan, and Tuilagi, 2 of whom are injured. Tuqiri should get plenty of gametime.

If Lucas is **** it's because Richard Cockerill ignores the fact he's a centre / fullback. When he played #15 against England he made a mock of the entire English XV. He's not winger material though, and that is quite noticeable.

As for Tuqiri, well I must agree with Teh Mite. I think he's heavily overrated, but he'll do well in the GP. It's been ages since I last watched him play, so it'll be interesting to see if he's got decent pace.

He has no pace - that's his problem. Over the last couple of seasons he seems to have slowed down quite a lot (which is strange given he is only 30...). His try scoring ability seems to have vanished as well (only scored 2 tries in 13 games for the Waratahs this season). He's still hard to stop when he runs straight at players, but I don't think he's going to be running around opposition wingers! I think he will still make a solid winger in the GP- no more, no less.

Well it seems to be a tendency with Pacific Islanders. They start out pretty well, with their naturally inherited muscular prowess and pace, but it conkes out as they age, some examples being Rokocoko, Sivivatu, Tuilagi, etc. I guess there's a natural balance between speed and power in their genetic characteristics, and when this balance is altered (i.e. when players bulk up) the result is often a disappointing one. If I remember correctly, Tuqiri is well over the 100 kilos barrier, is he not?

He is list at 103kg. With regards to Rococoko I really hope he is not heading the same way a Tuqiri. He's only 26 but has been nowhere near his best for over 2 years now, mainly as he seems to have lost a lot of pace - he relies entirely on his power these days. Hopefully he will regain his pace again, as he used to be an outstanding winger.

Absolutely true mate. The additional problem with this type of wingers is that they can't kick the ball. So if couple this tactical void up with their seemingly lost pace, the future does not seem promising. If I were Graham I'd advise Rokocoko to lose some weight -- but hey, he's the one obsessed with having a heavy backline. I just hope Roks will indeed regain his form, in his prime he was a tremendous player.

he will be returning to the nrl in march 2010 for the west tigers

My Mail is
This is a fill in deal, as he hasn't played comptetively for a while and the more $$ in his pocket the less the west tigesr need to shelv in 3rd party payments to get him.

The West Tigers wont announce this, as David Gallop would refuse to register him in the NRL, if he is currently contracted to a foreign code and club. (Nearly happened to Benji last year)

I wish Rokocoko found his form, to expell him from the AB's seems a waste as a simular thing happened to Christian Cullen, and then he went on to have a great season 4 the Hurricanes, but then went 2 Munster and seemed not to care as much. Henry recons that Rokocoko will shape into another Inga Tuigamala, which is dumb. I think it also must be mentioned that with the modern defence of the game, as well as the focus on kicking, that wingers that base their game on running are quickly becoming obsolete, which is a shame because it makes rugby a bit more boring.

The try he scored against the Saints was far from ****.

It was a simple run-in from a defensive howler while Diggin looked like he couldn't be bothered to chase him down.

How'd Lote go in his debut against South Africa? Did the crowd react positively when he ran on?

Tuqiri is a decent player, just give hime some time to adjust to the team ad he will show what he's worth
