TRF's 2014 FIFA World Cup

what an embarrassment for Brazil tonight...and their match against Bolivia or whoever the fk beat Uruguay tonight in the upcoming 1/4F is going to be another no-show boring fkng match...
I fancy the chances France gets rid of Nigeria, beats Germany somehow and then meets Brazil in the semis, we've got a real, real chance to make the final. The toughest opponent for France will probably be Germany. We may just stop there..or even before that in fact.

Bleh! The great nation of glorious Chile shall return home and plot their next assault on the cup. (on the bright side, I get to change my flag back!)
I shall offer my full support to the USA from now on! (until they get knocked out, then I'll switch it to someone else :p)

I actually think the U.S.A. can beat Belgium next. They're my pick.

I don't know what the opposite of 'Synergy' is, but Belgium have it big time.

lol. I haven't actually seen the US play much, just a bit, but I've seen lots of Belgium. And man, the dudes couldn't ****in score over KOREA til, like, the 100th minute. I'm going for the upset. Dis a setup for the upset, awww shieeet I can feel da flow comin'...

USA is soooooo organised. Every player knows his role. When the camera zooms out, you can see the coordination in the movement. Belgium are just awful. They have a plethora of talented players, but they cannot/will not play well together.
The only worry is, with the massive expansion in interest within the USA about 'socca', that this world cup awakes a sleeping giant and fills it with a terrible resolve. (nobody stands a chance if the USA suddenly decides 'socca' is popular and they want to win :p) (Damn you Beckham!!!!)
On the bright side, with the shambles that is Belgium, it's looking like only a 95% chance of Wales not qualifying for the next euros, instead of 100% now.

What? I can't even tell what you're trying to say.. Brazil vs Chile was boring? Brazil vs Colombia (not Bolivia....) will be boring?

France should win against Nigeria, then Germany will be an epic battle, both France and Germany looked good in their opening 2 games and looked a little lost in the 3rd. So interesting to see who can up it to the next level when it counts.

Brazil were awful from half-time on. Very lucky to go through...they have no chance of winning the Cup if they play like that again. Fred is crap while Hulk is terrible out on the wing.

Heartbreaking for Chile. Alexis Sanchez was the best player on the pitch.

Yeah game of 2 halves, Chile a lot more controlled and played the percentages better, Once they got Neymar under control it got hard for Brazil, I also think he needs to learn to pass when he is being marked like that. Hulk played good in the 2nd half and at least looked like he should be on the field, as did Marcelo.

Columbia looked polished and played awesome, will be a handful for Brazil.

Yeah this is one of the supposed 50/50 knock games for a lot of people.

Agree with the views on the US against Belgium...I can see the yanks doing this (hope so too).

Brazil seemed to collapse after their disallowed goal...players went to pieces and the fans went quiet. They are so fragile it's scary...so much expectation at a home World Cup they dare not lose. Neymar is class but he's on his own...surrounded by the likes of awful trio of Fred, Hulk and Jo in attack. To think Brazil had a front three of Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo just 10 years ago. Reminder of how good Rivaldo was btw...the whole vid is great but the bending free kicks from 4:40 onward are just insane,

Scolari needs to drop Fred, replace him with Hulk upfront where he's decent and not on the wing where he's useless. And then put Willian on the wing. Personally I think Scolari made a blunder by not selecting Kaka. He's not the player he was, but he's a hell of a lot better than what they have. And not picking Diego Costa and allowing him to play for Spain was ridiculous.

--------Diego Costa
Neymar---Kaka---Oscar

That is the four best attacking Brazilians today, but Scolari has gone for average. Still, if Brazil somehow win the thing then everything I've said is nonsense and he's a genius.

Belgium are a weird one for me, crammed full of some of the best players (many of them ply their trade in the Premier League too, so get a lot of media attention), but haven't looked particularly convincing as a team. Wouldn't be too surprised to see that Belgium - USA game go either way.

****, costa Rica are on at 4am, not going to sleep tonight if i decide to watch it.

I don't think that Colombia will play a boring game. They will play their best football against Brazil and they will not have any chance to overcome this beautiful salsa dance!!!

If it's so, Brazil will kill the joga bonito because this time they have nothing!!!

Concur with the comment above.

Scolari is a pragmatic, cautious manager...very un Brazilian. In 2002 he was just blessed to have probably the best attacking trio (Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo) in World Cup history, and the two best attacking wing backs (Roberto Carlos, Cafu) in World Cup history. They landed on his lap...though tbf they did win the World Cup so he did manage to do something (what I don't know). He played two defensive midfielders in that team which was unheard of (evidently it worked). But playing two defensive midfielders in the current team won't work because they don't have the attacking players to compensate for such negativity.

He plays Hulk on the wing purely for his physical presence, Fred upfront for the same reason, and two defensive midfielders. This means of the midfielders and forwards, six players, only two are there for their attacking qualities (Neymar and Oscar). Ultra negative. Colombia are far more adventurous and will believe they have the attack to beat them. If Brazil are to win this game, and the Cup, they will have to do more than just expect Neymar to carry them.

Sure Chile used my Gaelic Football coaches mantra of "All of you can afford one yellow card each" and used them to kick the **** out of Neymar, he was hairly anonymous after that. Fred is useless, Jo is worse and Hulk is a waste of a winger who brings little to the side in attack or defence, so, while they're working well in defence they're two attacking players short of a balanced team as I see it. Colombia have what it takes to beat Brazil the question is whether they have the bottle in my opinion.

Watching this tournament one thing that stands out, to me, as an aesthetically minded person - their referees have vastly superior kits to ours.
