TRF's 2014 FIFA World Cup

An acceptable but dissapointing result.....the players have salvaged savage incomptence from our goalie..The Russian Bear remains unbowed and unbroken however.

Gad, it's a massive shame we're not at the World Cup. Genuinely nothing makes the country come alive quite like it. Still a great experience, this tournament. The sun's out, everyone's up for having cans all the time, loads of football gossip. Great craic altogether.

Looking forward to the Chile vs Spain game tonight. Spain really need to bounce back after that nightmare against the Dutch. Their style of football is very effective as long as they're pressing pretty much constantly when they're without the ball, which wasn't the case against the Dutch. Chile have the pace to hurt them, and as we've seen from the Dutch result, Bayern's loss to Real this year, and Barca's loss to Bayern the year previous, high tempo counter attacking football can be extremely effective in overcoming the tika taka style.

There have been some calls for the Spanish to drop Casillas, but I don't see it. Yes, on form De Gea is a superior keeper, but it's pretty damaging to the team's psyche to change a long established keeper half way through a tournament. However, if the rest of the side has lost confidence in him...

Not if you're doing the L.C...

Still only one more day...

Amen,

VAMOS CHILE

I don't follow soccer/football, but any time I've watched Spain these past WC's/Euros, they're doing the same shiit and it's boring as FUUUKKK. And in sports, I love when cowardly/insidious styled teams get opened up and smashed. Holland's 5-1 was a fkng buffet delight some days ago there.
And besides, who can resist rooting for the underhotdog. What, isn't that the expression ? Yeah so Spain have never lost to Chile apparently in a Cup's context. Would be lovely if they could manage like, a tie at least, as Mexico with Brazil yesterday.

Ive always found Spanish football dull, even/especially when they went on their unbeatable run. Same reason why I've always quite enjoyed German/Dutch football. They at least play with some pace and purpose

because I have a thick cliché lens on with football, I'd have imagined the Spanish kind to be like their culture. Spicy hot, extra colorful, full of life...but it's the most boring shiit of all-time. Hope they lose...

Didn't realize Australia were the lowest ranked team! They look very sharp

Oh what a ****ing goal as I was typing

I'm at a bit of an awkward moment here, I had a bet on Van Persie to score and the Dutch to win, plus I impulse bet on teh Dutch to win 3 - 2 when Australia went 2 -1 up...
NO ONE BLOODY SCORE PLEASE!

Beautiful match to see, best of the WC by now. Australia deserved to win but ozzies players are so naif and innocent, that give me tenderness. Holland just won for its craft and experience.

Not sure beautiful was the word but it was certainly an exciting game.
